The Lourve Museum was stolen. The French right attacked the security team.
The Louvre, in central Paris, is facing a torrent of heavy criticism in the wake of a broad day of robberies in which unsub can outrageously steal away precious French regalia amid accusations that the administration values diversity over the ability to appoint senior personnel.
Security chief Dominique Buffin, appointed last September, was particularly watched, with her being the first woman to hold the position, under the management of Laurence des Cars, Louvre's first female director.
Marion Marechal, a member of the Council of Europe, called on culture minister Rachida Dati to order the dismissal of both, accusing the appointment of being due to a "Feminist policy" that neglected competence qualifications and led to the loss of national cultural heritage.
Louvre has previously been criticized for its outdated security systems, with a state audit report noting that security structures and technologies remain "old and inadequate," while former director Pierre Rosenberg had previously warned since 1998 that the museum's security was "fragile."
Police have not ruled out an insider in connection with the incident, but preliminary evidence points to a crime movement, with Louvre remaining closed on Monday while authorities thoroughly examined CCTV footage.
