Thicc & Healthy High-Protein Lunch Idea🥗
If you’re anything like me, meal planning can be a drag—so I don’t🤭. I really just wing it day by day, but I’m posting this so you don’t have to!! I’m naturally slim and petite. However, I’m aiming to gain (& maintain) healthy weight by consuming high-calorie, high-protein meals, and this lunch is definitely one of my favorites😋. Not only is it easy to make, but it’s nutritious and provides a lot of protein no matter what your fitness goal may be.
🍑For those aiming to gain weight: This would be considered one meal. Eat all that you see here. It’s okay to pace yourself and gradually work up to being able to eat this in one sitting.
🏋️♀️For those aiming to lose weight: I’d recommend using this lunch idea as something to consume throughout the day. (I.e. Slide 1 - Breakfast, Slide 2- Snack, Slide 3- Lunch, etc.)

Finding a lunch that's both healthy and high in calories can feel like a mission, especially if you're trying to gain or maintain weight without feeling sluggish. I totally get it! I used to struggle with meal planning, but discovering simple, effective high-protein options like the one I shared has been a game-changer for my fitness journey. This isn't just about packing on calories; it's about fueling your body with nutrient-dense options that keep you satisfied and energized. Let's dive a bit deeper into making "healthy high calorie lunch" ideas genuinely easy and practical, especially for meal prep. My secret? Focus on components that are quick to assemble or can be prepped in batches. For instance, the star of our meal, the chicken Caesar salad, is surprisingly versatile for meal prep. I often grill a big batch of chicken breasts on Sunday, chop them up, and store them in individual containers. Then, throughout the week, it's just a matter of washing and tearing some fresh romaine lettuce, adding the pre-cooked chicken, a handful of croutons, and a drizzle of my favorite healthy Caesar dressing. You can even pre-portion the shaved Parmesan cheese! This method saves so much time during busy weekdays. For those looking into "high calorie healthy meal prep," thinking beyond just the main dish is key. The OIKOS Triple Zero Vanilla Flavor yogurt is fantastic because it's already perfectly portioned and ready to go. And for the apples with peanut butter? I slice my apples fresh each morning or the night before and keep the peanut butter in a little separate container to avoid sogginess. It’s these small habits that turn a complex-sounding high-calorie meal into an effortless daily routine. Don't forget healthy fats like a spoonful of almond butter or a few walnuts to easily boost your calorie intake. A common question I've seen is about something like "30g lettuce calories." Honestly, lettuce itself isn't going to be your calorie powerhouse. It's the excellent base for a nutrient-rich and calorie-dense meal! My approach is to think of lettuce as the perfect vehicle for healthier, calorie-contributing ingredients. In our chicken Caesar salad, the calories primarily come from the lean protein in the chicken (which provides a fantastic 30g protein for 361 calories for that portion!), the healthy fats in the dressing, and the carbohydrates from the croutons. To make any salad a truly "healthy high calorie lunch," I always recommend loading up on more than just greens. Think avocado slices for healthy fats, hard-boiled eggs or chickpeas for extra protein and fiber, or even a sprinkle of seeds like pumpkin or sunflower seeds. These additions don’t just add calories; they add essential nutrients, making your lunch more satisfying and beneficial for your body. Ultimately, whether your goal is to gain weight healthily or use these components for a balanced weight-loss strategy throughout the day, the principle remains the same: choose whole, unprocessed foods and combine them intelligently. It’s all about making smart choices that fit your lifestyle and help you reach your goals without feeling like a chore. Give this easy high calorie lunch idea a try, and I bet you'll feel the difference!
