STUDY TIPS 101

As i’m wining down my time , for this semester i saw some questions on my post asking for advice on studying and it just doesn’t have to be for nursing but for anything ! here’s my advice i hope you enjoy.

• setting study times

being a mom i only have a limited time to study anyway but notice if i try to go all in and spend most of the day studying at some point i’m no longer retaining the information, depending on the day i try to study atleast 1-2 and some days just 30 mins depending on the topic.

•setting the mood

i really have to be in the mind set to study or else it will not be an effective study session, i normally listen to lofi music with a clean space because it is most affective for me , also most times i’ll have a snack or have some hot tea to give myself a little breather from studying if i need to .

•Breaking up with cram studying

nothing you try to remember last minute is going to be in your brain the minute you take your test so if you have a test coming up , study beforehand because if you rush you’ll be frustrated the day of the test.

• Find the way you study

here are some examples that work best for me, active recall and hands on material. I bought a giant white board because when i write things or draw them more than once i can remember them so fast than it just being taught to me in lecture. by hands on materials i mean if you can get your hands on a artificial skull like the ones sold around halloween time , DO IT ! it will save your life when you have to learn about the skull and the different parts, also i love color coding it also helps me remember, they have a coloring book for anatomy that works wonders for my memory. i have a pencil bag full of markers and i love to take neat color coded notes .

i hope some of my studying tips help and comment down below any questions or tips that work for you !

... Read moreStudying effectively is crucial for academic success, and understanding the best strategies can make a significant difference. One key tip is to create a structured study schedule that accommodates your personal life while ensuring consistent learning. Shorter, focused sessions combined with regular breaks tend to enhance retention more than marathon study days. Moreover, finding a conducive study environment—like one filled with lofi music and minimal distractions—can elevate your focus during study times. It's equally important to abandon last-minute cramming as it can lead to increased anxiety and lower scores. Scheduling your study sessions in advance allows the material to settle in your long-term memory. Experiment with various methods of study: try using color-coded notes, mnemonic devices, or even teaching the material to someone else. Using hands-on resources like models or diagrams can also deepen understanding, especially for subjects requiring spatial learning, like anatomy. For nursing students, practical applications—such as interacting with anatomical models—can facilitate memory and comprehension. Embrace your unique learning style; whether it involves visual aids, auditory learning, or tactile experiences, adapting your study techniques to your strengths will not only boost your confidence but also your academic performance. Remember to engage with fellow students for tips and supportive discussions. Community-based learning enriches the study experience and fosters a collaborative environment, where everyone benefits from shared knowledge and insights.
