I arrived early and gave my all every day. I took my job seriously, even though it was just a stepping stone. There, I learned the ins and outs of the business.

It’s so important to know it all. Know it like the back of your hand, learn as much as you can.

Carefully track your clients. This data will help to understand their patterns and in making an informed decisions about going solo. Analyze the number of regular clients you see in a day, week, or month over a year to get a clear picture. Be mindful that discussing prices or location, could deter some clients from following. It’s inevitable, but don't let fear discourage you from making a move.

After collecting the data, create a plan that includes your business location, timeline, and transition to solo operations. Test products to ensure quality, establish a budget. You will also need to name your business, select booking software (which can be an old school book at first). You will need to research state regulations to obtain the necessary licenses and permits (if necessary). This will include a business license, salon license, retail license, and business insurance. An LLC is optional which you'll need to decideweather or not an LLC is right for you.

While you get all of your ducks in a row and have a clear view of an opening date. Let your clients know the plan. Get a head start with appointments and start scheduling for your new solo location.

Never start without having appointments on the books.
