What I Wear to Work
I love to experiment with style and mix and match pieces. Let’s say I get a lot of looks from my co workers but I’m fairly comfortable in my own skin. Which took some time.
Do you get looks and or comments in regard to your personal style from family? Friends? Coworkers? Strangers?
Dressing for work can feel like a balancing act between expressing your personality and fitting into a professional environment. From my own experience, embracing an individual style at work took time and a bit of courage, especially when coworkers' reactions ranged from curiosity to surprise. I often mix and match pieces to create looks that feel authentic to me while remaining appropriate for the office. One thing I've learned is that personal style is a form of self-expression that can boost your confidence significantly. When I started dressing in ways that reflected who I truly am, it helped me feel more comfortable and assertive, even in a formal setting. It’s important to allow yourself room to experiment, as this helps you discover what works best for both your style and workplace expectations. Family, friends, and even strangers can sometimes comment on what you wear, which could be encouraging or challenging. Instead of letting these remarks deter you, I try to view them as opportunities to explain my choices or simply embrace the uniqueness that sets me apart. Over time, this self-assurance has cultivated respect among colleagues and enhanced my professional presence. If you’re someone who receives comments about your clothing choices, consider what makes you feel empowered rather than just following norms. Start small—perhaps incorporate one unique accessory or bold color into your outfit. This approach gradually builds your style confidence. Remember, your workwear is not just about looking professional but also about feeling comfortable and confident in your own skin. Style is subjective, and by leaning into what makes you feel good, you create a positive aura that resonates beyond apparel. Keep experimenting, stay true to yourself, and your style will tell your story, one outfit at a time.
