The Struggle Was Real
A woman formally attired in a suit, hat, & gloves must look up a phone number in the phone directory before making a call. This was 1964 before cell phones, Siri, Google, & all that good stuff. The cost of a call was one dime in exact change. Sometimes there was a wait for a public phone. If your party didn’t answer, there was no voice mail. You had to try again.
