Musician and arranger Phil Moore is credited with helping develop Dorothy Dandridge’s successful nightclub singing career in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Moore served as Dorothy’s vocal coach, pianist, and arranger.
Moore’s client roster at different times included Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne, Marilyn Monroe, Bing Crosby, Tommy Dorsey, Hazel Scott, Pearl Bailey, Ava Gardner, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Quincy Jones, Jerry Butler, Diahann Carroll, the Supremes, and many, many others.
