JAMAICA: WE LOVE YOU—STAY SAFE!
Oh, Jamaica. As I literally post this, our friends there are experiencing a category 5 hurricane, the worst possible devastation. Some of our earliest episodes for The WTAF Show were filmed on that magical, beautiful island, and our heart simply breaks for those enduring this massive blow. Please, send good energy into the universe for Jamaica and its people—and then make plans to visit the island in the future. Jamaica is a strong, innovative nation, with food and art experiences that will endure the storm, indeed worthy of a spot on your own travel list. 🙏🏻✈️🇯🇲
The recent category 5 hurricane striking Jamaica is truly heartbreaking, but it also highlights the incredible spirit and resilience of the Jamaican people. Known for their vibrant culture, Jamaica’s strength shines brightest during challenges. Beyond the storm, Jamaica’s diverse cultural tapestry—from its flavorful African and British-influenced cuisine to its captivating art scenes and beachside markets—continues to inspire travelers worldwide. Traditional cooking techniques and street food mainstays like jerk grills and local market produce are central to Jamaica’s identity, blending history with innovation. Visitors often discover the warmth of Jamaican hospitality, with women and local artisans playing key roles in preserving cultural heritage while embracing new trends in travel and food experiences. The island’s adaptability and creative energy ensure that tourism and community life will recover and flourish once the storm passes. For those concerned about safety, it’s important to stay informed through official weather updates and follow local guidance. In the meantime, showing support through shared stories, prayers, and planning future visits helps sustain Jamaica’s global connections.
