Art School Week 4
Spring semester and two years in, this is week four and I’m exhausted. I’ve been doing three classes in each semester, yes I am part time because I work full time. This is the first time I’m am taking two studio courses and I thought it was going to be overwhelming. Once I saw my classes and saw that no quizzes or exams would be necessary, I was relieved. Four weeks in and I’m ready to be done. Here’s why and a little advise for anyone juggling work and school (specifically for online school).
I finished all the assignments for one class on the first day and took three days off but was left with three days to complete the assignments for the other two classes. I knew what was due and told myself I had time, but no I was rushing in my printmaking class.
1. Do your easy classes first
If you have the time, do it now. The hard class will take up more time and you won’t be rushing to finishing because you have other assignments.
2. Turn in assignments early.
Most instructors will allow you to resubmit (online classes) before due date after they’ve given you some feedback.
3. Easy grades involve commenting.
Instructors look for certain details just to see your reading the information. Most of the grading comes from responding to your peers post.
That’s all I can think of for now but I hope some of this helps for those struggling. Time management is key. I can’t tell you what to do one your free time but hopefully it’s when all your work has been completed. Anyone else with advise?

RMCAD for interior design here! 🙋🏼♀️ I’m enrolled three quarter time. Our courses are accelerated meaning 8-week courses, 2 max for a single 8 week session. 3/4 time means I take 1 course for Term A, and 2 courses for term B. I’m starting Summer A this week. Last term I had to labs- observational drawing and drafting and those were tough to get complete on time. Every week I had at least one late assignment- with no days off. I studied 8-12 hours a days primarily drawing and attempting new skills. It was rough! I’m doing only color theory this term and IM PUMPED FOR IT! Discussion boards are important. I think of them as “publishing articles” and always have an exceptional grade and have been nominated/recommended/recognized for my writing as well! Always put slightly more effort in your writing than you want so your professors know your level of understanding even if your assignments/projects are weak. Here’s a recent drawing that was supposed to be a sketch that was just in flow creating! Time passed by so quickly and I finished it effortlessly just slowing myself to EXPRESS!
