Charcoal Drawing 🎤Taka
Here’s the process I did for my first charcoal drawing.
I’m very proud of myself, yes it’s has problems it’s not perfect but I wowed myself.
My biggest issue was the eyes. I feel like the eyes make the person and it’s hard to tell who it is bc of how bad they look.
I can’t wait to do this again!
Starting your first charcoal drawing can be both exciting and challenging, especially when working on detailed elements like facial features. The eyes, often considered the soul of a portrait, can significantly influence how recognizable the subject is. Many artists find capturing the depth and emotion in eyes to be difficult, especially when using charcoal's rich, dark medium which requires careful shading and layering. A good approach for improving eye detail in charcoal drawings involves studying anatomy and practicing various shading techniques such as blending with tortillons or using an eraser to add highlights. It's important to start with light outlines to position the eyes accurately before deepening the shadows and adding texture. As this artist noted, imperfections are normal in early works, but each piece is a valuable step in honing skills. Additionally, practicing regularly, experimenting with different charcoal hardness (such as vine or compressed charcoal), and seeking feedback can accelerate progress. Capturing the likeness of musicians or public figures, such as those inspired by #oneokrock, adds an exciting layer of challenge and motivation. Finally, sharing your journey, including what works and what doesn’t, helps build a supportive community around charcoal drawing. It encourages improvement and inspires others to embrace the process with patience and creativity.

Ohh hey I went to art school ! Trace over the eyes with tracing paper over and over again ! Then Break down your box or grid into smaller boxes until the proportions are right ! Eyes are big problem for me but they are the most important since they give life to the person 🥰 this is soooo good btw 🥹
