How to Surrender to God

... Read moreYou know, when I first heard 'surrender to God,' I admit, I was a little skeptical. It sounded like giving up, like I was just supposed to stop trying and let things happen. But through my own #spiritualjourney, I’ve learned it’s actually the opposite. It’s an active, powerful choice to release the burden of trying to control everything myself, and instead, lean into something far greater. Many of us spend so much time putting around with our worries, endlessly analyzing, planning, and stressing. We try to orchestrate every detail of our lives, only to find ourselves exhausted and often disappointed. What if I told you there’s a different way? Surrendering isn't about being passive; it's about actively choosing to place your burdens, your fears, and your carefully laid plans into God's hands. It’s about recognizing that He sees the bigger picture, even when we don't. One of the biggest hurdles for me was truly giving Him my worries. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." But how do you do that? For me, it started with acknowledging what I couldn’t control. It meant consciously taking each anxious thought, each fearful scenario, and literally giving it to God in prayer. Sometimes, I even wrote them down, symbolizing that release. It's a daily practice, not a one-time event. You won't always feel in control, and that's precisely the point! It’s about moving forward with faith, knowing that if God led you to it, He will guide you through it. Then there's the part about Obedience Even When It's Hard. This one hit home. It's easy to obey when things make logical sense or feel comfortable. But true surrender calls for Obedience following God's Word and His Spirit even when it doesn't make sense or feels uncomfortable. Think of Abraham leaving his homeland, or Peter stepping out of the boat. These weren't easy decisions. For us, it might mean forgiving someone who hurt us, stepping away from a comfortable but unfulfilling path, or taking a leap of faith into the unknown. It requires a deep trust that God's way is always best, even when it feels counterintuitive to our human understanding. And how do we cultivate that trust? The original post mentions Worship & Trust Daily. This is crucial. When you worship and spend time in His word, your spirit becomes more aligned with His. It reminds you who God is. It's not about forcing yourself to feel a certain way, but consistently making space for Him. Reading scripture, listening to worship music, or simply sitting in quiet prayer can transform your perspective. It shifts your focus from your problems to His power, making surrender more natural. My own experience has shown me that this journey isn't linear. Some days, I feel completely surrendered and at peace. Other days, I catch myself trying to snatch back control, putting around with old anxieties. But the beauty is that God's grace is always there, inviting us back. It’s a continuous conversation, a letting go, and a renewed embrace of His will. It’s a powerful path to finding true peace that the world can't offer. So, are you ready to stop putting around with the burdens you were never meant to carry? Are you ready to let go and let God lead?
