I know I know I know and because of this I'm going to prove it to the world where everybody's money is being stolen and going to
Recently, I experienced firsthand how sophisticated and tricky chatbot scams have become on social media platforms like Meta. These bots often masquerade as real individuals, using friendly gestures such as waving stickers with messages like "hi" to appear engaging and innocent. However, their true intent is usually to trick users into moving conversations to external messaging apps like Telegram, WhatsApp, or Signal, where scammers can operate with less oversight. From personal experience, the key to avoiding such scams is to recognize the behavioral patterns. For instance, these fake accounts tend to message you when you appear "active" online, attempting to draw you into dialogue subtly. They might use repeated greetings or seemingly odd sticker animations that don’t quite make conversational sense — like a sticker waving "hi" but not delivering any meaningful interaction beyond that. One effective way to protect yourself is to never accept invitations to communicate on different platforms unless you can verify the identity of the person. Always question unexpected messages, especially from profiles with minimal personal information or those that immediately request moving the chat elsewhere. Furthermore, these scam attempts often culminate in requests for money or personal details. Remember, if you’re pressured for funds or sensitive data, it’s a major red flag. Periodically, these bots recycle similar scripts or tactics, making it important to stay aware of updates in scammer behaviors. Sharing experiences like this is crucial in raising awareness and helping others avoid financial losses. If ever in doubt, it is safer to block and report suspicious accounts to the platform to protect the community from widespread fraud.
