Day in a life as a mom. Choosing me healing my inner child. #momtok #sahm #groceryshopping #dinner #healing
It's funny, for so long, I really believed that my completeness depended on someone else. I remember feeling like I couldn't be whole, couldn't be truly happy, unless I had another person by my side. But lately, I've been on such an eye-opening personal growth journey, and it's been truly transformative. I've had this huge realization: I am a whole human by myself. It sounds so simple, but it’s profound – I don’t need anyone else to "make" me happy. My happiness is my responsibility. This understanding has been like a light switch, illuminating paths I never knew existed for my own well-being. This journey has really been about healing my inner child. For years, I found myself doing things I didn't truly want to do, just to make others around me happy and comfortable. Looking back, every time I did that, I was essentially letting my inner child down. That little version of me, who just wanted to be seen and valued for who she was, was being ignored. Now, as I'm getting older, I understand that if I don't advocate for myself, no one else will. It’s a powerful lesson in self-love and setting boundaries. For me, connecting with my past self means acknowledging old hurts and giving myself the compassion I might have lacked back then. It's about recognizing when I'm reacting from an old wound and consciously choosing a different path. So, what does this look like in a busy mom's day? It means actively learning to choose myself. It might be something small, like taking an extra five minutes for my coffee before the kids wake up, or carving out time to read a book that truly interests me, not just another parenting manual. It’s about acknowledging my feelings instead of always pushing them aside. I used to think being "selfish" was a bad thing, but I’ve learned there’s a healthy selfishness that's essential for well-being. It’s okay to do the things you want to do, and it’s okay to say no to things that drain you. This isn't about being inconsiderate; it's about protecting your peace so you can give authentically. Of course, a huge part of my life revolves around my family. As the OCR text mentions, my kids will always be my first priority. This isn't about neglecting them; it's about showing up as the best version of myself for them. When I'm feeling nurtured and whole, I have so much more to give. When I protect my own energy and happiness, I'm a more patient, present, and joyful mom. It’s a delicate balance, and I’m still figuring it out every day, but the shift in mindset has been everything. This self-discovery has truly changed my perspective on motherhood and personal fulfillment, making every day feel a little more authentic.
