Finding the Beauty in the Imperfect.
I don't make my bed every day, as a busy mom I do so much in a single day that making my bed is the last thing on my mind. And one of the many reasons I love the #lemon8community is because I feel comfortable and free enough to share the imperfect.
I took this photo because the lighting to me was so beautiful and I just had to capture it. Simple as that! I wanted to share something that I found beautiful.
Are you a photographer who always sees pretty lighting in all aspects of your day?.....or is it just me?
xoxo 💋

I often find myself caught in the endless cycle of trying to make everything perfect. From my home to my schedule as a busy individual, the pressure to maintain an immaculate facade can be overwhelming. But lately, I've been discovering a profound sense of liberation in embracing the allure of imperfection. It’s not about letting things fall apart, but rather about acknowledging that life isn't always neat, and there's a unique beauty in that raw honesty. This journey started with small things. Like the morning I simply didn't make my bed. Instead of rushing to tuck in the sheets and fluff the pillows, I paused. And in that moment, I saw the most beautiful scene – the soft pink and white bedding, the white pillow, and the fluffy pink blanket, all gently rumpled by sleep. Sunlight streamed through the window, casting delicate striped shadows across the white wall, creating an imperfect morning scene that was utterly captivating. It was a revelation: beauty doesn't always reside in order; sometimes it thrives in the lived-in, the slightly disheveled. Embracing imperfection extends far beyond just an unmade bed. It means accepting that my home won't always be show-ready, and that's okay. It means letting go of the need for every meal to be gourmet or every outfit to be flawless. It’s about appreciating the unique character of a chipped coffee mug or the charming chaos of a bookshelf overflowing with beloved reads. This mindset shift has been transformative, reducing a significant amount of daily stress and allowing me to truly live in the present. And this is where “pockets of calm” come into play. When you release the grip of perfection, you open yourself up to noticing these serene moments that are always there, waiting to be discovered. For me, that morning light on the unmade bed was a perfect example. It was a fleeting instant of pure tranquility amidst the usual morning hustle. These aren't grand, planned retreats; they are small, everyday respites that nourish your soul. How do you find your own pockets of calm? Mindful Observation: Like a photographer, practice truly seeing the world around you. Notice the way light hits a plant, the pattern of rain on a window, the steam rising from your tea. These simple observations can ground you. Let Go of Small Things: Don't sweat the small stuff. If the dishes can wait an hour, let them. If your hair isn't perfect, embrace the natural look. Freeing up mental energy from minor anxieties creates space for peace. Engage Your Senses: Take a few moments to truly taste your food, listen to the sounds outside, or feel the texture of something soft. Engaging your senses brings you into the present moment, a direct gateway to calm. Embrace the Flow: Sometimes, life simply doesn't go according to plan. Instead of fighting it, try to flow with it. An unexpected detour might lead to a beautiful discovery. An unplanned quiet moment can be a gift. Learning to appreciate the allure of imperfection has not only made my life less stressful but has also enriched it profoundly. It's taught me to seek and cherish those pockets of calm that are woven into the fabric of everyday existence. So next time you see something less than perfect, pause. You might just discover a breathtaking beauty and a moment of peace you never expected.
