Here's a random thought I had...
At almost 50 years old, I suddenly decided I want to learn how to play golf, tennis, and bowl. 😂
Now mind you, I've spent most of my life thinking golf was just rich folks taking a long walk while arguing with a little white ball.
Tennis always looked like two people having a disagreement from opposite sides of a fence.
And bowling? I figured that was just an excuse to eat bad food and wear somebody else's shoes. 🤣
But the older I get, the more I'm realizing it's important to keep learning new things. Not everything has to be about work, bills, responsibilities, surviving, or trying to figure out why your back sounds like microwave popcorn every time you stand up.
I think part of growing is refusing to become one of those people who stops trying new experiences.
Besides, golf seems peaceful. Tennis looks like a good workout. Bowling looks like something I can do without needing oxygen afterward.
The funny part is I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing in any of them.
I can already see myself on the golf course losing three balls on the first hole.
I can picture myself in tennis swinging so hard I throw my shoulder into next Tuesday.
And bowling? Knowing me, the ball will somehow end up in the lane next to mine and I'll be apologizing to strangers. 😂
Still, there's something exciting about being a beginner again.
Who knows? A year from now I might be out here talking about handicaps, backhands, and turkey strikes like I know what I'm doing.
Or I might discover that my true athletic gift is sitting in the clubhouse eating wings and minding my business. Either way, we gonna find out. 🤣🏌🏾♂️🎾🎳
