One day I had to stop by Navy Federal because my debit card got hit with a fraud alert. Apparently even scammers know my name, lol 😐🤦🏾♂️.
As I walked in, I held the door open for an older woman behind me. She smiled and said, "You're a gentleman." I appreciated that. One of my biggest pet peeves is when you hold the door for somebody and they walk through like the door opened itself. 😂 I don't need a standing ovation, a kiss, or a lifetime commitment...but a simple "thank you" goes a long way.
While I was waiting, she sat across from another woman and her young son. Then something happened that I still can't explain.
The atmosphere changed.
The sweet little old lady I had just met suddenly felt...different. I can't prove it, and I'm not asking anybody to believe me, but it felt like there was an invisible spiritual tug-of-war happening between her and that woman. She started mumbling under her breath while staring at the little boy.
Then I got that familiar feeling in my spirit—the one that makes the hair on my neck stand up before something bad happens. (That's a whole different story. 😐)
Without even thinking, I quietly whispered, "No."
She immediately turned, looked me dead in my eyes, and said, "I don't like your light."
Now listen...Ephesians 6 reminds us our battle isn't against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces. Sometimes discernment is a blessing...and sometimes it comes with stories nobody believes. 😂
Since that day my body has been acting like it signed up for the Book of Job DLC. Toothache. Surprise sinus infection. Back pain. Cluster headaches making a comeback. Can't find my migraine band. Sleeping like a raccoon on espresso. Even hot flashes got me questioning if men can have menopause. 🤣
At this point, I don't know if I need a new doctor or somebody carrying a bottle of anointing oil. Either way, God is still faithful.
One thing is certain...I will NEVER audition to be GOD's strongest soldier. Y'all can keep that position. I'm good. 🙌🏾😂
Sometimes life presents moments where the ordinary turns extraordinary, as this story demonstrates. Having experienced something similar, I can relate to the feeling of an invisible tension permeating a room, the subtle shifts in energy that only a keen sense of spiritual discernment can detect. The author references Ephesians 6, reminding us that our battles are often against spiritual forces beyond physical sight or understanding. This resonates deeply with many who believe in spiritual warfare—not as a battle of fists, but of faith and resilience. Recognizing when your 'spiritual light' is challenged can be unsettling, but it’s also a powerful reminder to stay grounded in your beliefs and protective practices. The physical symptoms the author describes—like toothaches, sinus infections, headaches, and restless sleep—can sometimes accompany intense spiritual experiences or stress. Many people report similar signs after spiritually charged encounters, which has prompted some to seek holistic approaches combining medical care with spiritual practices such as prayer, meditation, or anointing. Understanding the blend of the spiritual and physical highlights the importance of self-care that respects both realms. Whether it’s holding the door for someone and receiving gratitude or confronting a dark energy in a public space, these moments test our courage and faith. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you feel an inexplicable tension or malaise, it might help to quietly affirm your boundaries and seek peace through your faith traditions. Carrying a small token, prayer, or simply speaking 'No' to negative energies—as shared in this story—can act as a spiritual shield. Above all, the narrative maintains a lighthearted and authentic tone. While the author deals with serious themes, humor and humility soften the story, making it relatable and engaging. This blend invites readers to reflect on their own encounters with the unseen and encourages a community dialogue about spiritual vigilance in everyday life.
