Solomon, I gotta admit...I'm surprised. 😂 I honestly thought women didn't unlock the superpower of overthinking until they hit their 30s. Turns out that feature might come pre-installed at birth. 🤣🤣🤣
Apparently there was a little turbulence between the besties. From what I gathered, somebody got in their feelings over...a boy, I think. 🤦🏾♂️ Once the other friend showed up, I politely excused myself because they started speaking in what they thought was "secret girl code." Let me tell you...it wasn't secret. It was just confusing. 😂
My daughter finally summed it up with, "She needs to stop overthinking. If I had a problem with her, she would've already been cussed out." Well...at least she's honest. 🤣
It reminded me of Proverbs 4:23: "Guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Sometimes we create battles in our minds that never existed. A conversation can solve what overthinking often makes worse.
I also learned my baby girl is absolutely terrified of heights. 😭 So I guess I'll be riding the Atlanta Ferris Wheel by myself, and she already informed me that a helicopter tour will NEVER happen.
She's definitely an indoor person too, so I can scratch hiking, camping and long park walks off our Daddy-Daughter list. 😂
I'm thankful she's comfortable being herself instead of following the crowd. God didn't create us all with the same personality, and that's okay.
Next up might be a Sip & Paint night...without the sipping. 😆 I'm pretty laid back, but I'm not ordering my daughter a beer. I know she's in college, but that's just one father-daughter memory I can happily live without. 🤣
Maybe pottery is the move. Me? I'll try almost anything...except the spa. Y'all already know that's not my ministry. If I'm gonna relax, I'd rather grab a fishing pole. At least then I'm doing something while I'm doing nothing. 😂🎣

... Read moreSpending quality time with my daughter has always been a favorite part of my week, though each outing teaches me something new about personality and preferences. For example, like Thomas, I’ve noticed kids can surprise you with traits you might not expect—whether it’s a hidden fear of heights or just a preference for indoor activities over outdoor adventures.
One memorable trip involved trying to find activities that matched our personalities. While I’m all for hiking and fishing, my daughter preferred something less physically demanding. That’s when we discovered how fun Sip & Paint events could be—no sipping for the kids, of course, but the creative outlet brought a new layer to our connection. Pottery classes also proved to be a fantastic choice, providing both relaxation and memorable bonding time.
The concept of "Girl Code" and overthinking is something I relate to, especially when kids navigate friendships and their emotions. The quote from Proverbs 4:23, "Guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it," resonates because it reminds us to communicate openly instead of letting silent anxieties fester. Conversations truly are a key to resolving imaginary battles caused by overthinking.
If you’re planning your own father-daughter day, consider your child’s comfort zone but don’t shy away from new experiences either. It’s okay if hiking or outdoor adventures aren’t the favorite—sometimes indoor activities can create just as beautiful memories. Also, learning about their fears, like heights or certain rides, helps tailor experiences that everyone enjoys.
Ultimately, the best memories come from being present and sharing sincere moments together. Whether it’s laughing over confusing "girl code," painting pottery pieces, or simply enjoying quiet time fishing, these occasions build a lasting father-daughter bond full of warmth and joy. Embrace the quirks and find your unique way to connect—it’s what these days are truly about.
