Hey everyone! Wanted to share my recent triumph over one of the more frustrating bosses in Super Mario Odyssey: the Metal Centipede! I know a lot of you might be struggling with this guy, so I thought I’d put together my personal walkthrough of how I finally managed to take him down. It was definitely a challenge, but with a bit of patience and the right approach, you'll get that Power Moon in no time. First off, don't get discouraged if you die a few times. This boss requires good timing and understanding its attack patterns. Before you even jump into the arena, make sure you're fully healed and maybe even grab any extra hearts if they're available nearby. I always take a moment to look at the Map of the area if there's one available, just to get a sense of the layout, though for this boss, it's usually a pretty straightforward arena. Sometimes, I even hit the Menu to adjust my camera settings if I feel like I'm losing track of the action, but usually, the default works fine. Okay, so the fight basically has two main phases. The Metal Centipede is a giant mechanical worm that’s covered in spiky segments. Your main goal is to capture Cappy onto its head. When you do, you'll gain control of the Centipede for a short period. This is crucial for dealing damage. During the first phase, the Centipede will primarily try to ram into you. It also has this annoying attack where it spits out smaller, exploding segments. The key here is to keep moving! Don't stand still. Use Mario's triple jump and dive to maintain distance and avoid its charges. Wait for an opening – usually after it charges past you or gets disoriented – then quickly throw Cappy at its head. Once you’re in control, you need to steer its body into the large electrical barriers lining the arena. Each time you crash into a barrier, a segment of its body will break off. Your goal is to break off all the segments until only its head remains. Be careful not to steer into the smaller, non-electrical obstacles, as this will just waste time and you’ll lose control quicker. After you've stripped away all its body segments, the Centipede will get really agitated and enter its second phase. This is where it gets a bit trickier, but also more predictable. It will now mostly just charge at you, perhaps a bit faster. Keep dodging! The strategy remains the same: wait for an opening, capture its head with Cappy, and then ram its head directly into the electrical barriers. You’ll need to do this a couple more times until it's completely defeated. The timing can be tight, so practice makes perfect. Try to anticipate its movements and aim Cappy just right. Sometimes, it feels like a game of cat and mouse, but you're the cat! One small tip I found helpful: if you're ever feeling overwhelmed or need a quick breather, remember you can often pause the game through the Menu to collect your thoughts. And always keep an eye out for any stray hearts that might appear in the arena during the fight – they can be a lifesaver! Good luck, fellow gamers! You can definitely conquer this metal beast!
