Those that work remote, how do you make friends?

I am curious, how do you go about making friends? As an introvert with a fully remote job, I find it challenging to connect with people. Living alone, my only interaction with colleagues is during Zoom meetings, and after work, I tend to stay at home. At times, I feel isolated from the outside world. While I understand that many people prefer not to be friends with their coworkers, I long to connect with like-minded individuals. Is this a common struggle? I recognize the need for change, but it feels daunting.

... Read moreMaking friends as a remote worker can indeed be challenging, especially for introverts who thrive on meaningful connections. Virtual interactions during work can make you feel disconnected from real-life friendships. One effective way to cultivate friendships is by exploring interest-based communities on platforms like Lemon8, where you can connect with others who share similar hobbies. Joining groups related to your interests allows for organic interactions that can lead to friendship. Consider attending local events or workshops in your area. These gatherings provide a great opportunity to meet individuals in a more relaxed setting. Additionally, leveraging social media platforms can help you reach out to people nearby who might also be looking to expand their social circles. Don’t hesitate to initiate conversations; often, others share your desire for connection. Remember, making friends might feel daunting, but with a few steps beyond your comfort zone, you can create rewarding relationships that enrich your remote work experience.
