Driving in NYC is probably what purgatory is 😭

New Yorker is here, I don’t understand why anyone would want to drive in Manhattan when I move to NYC initially.

Later, every time I have driven into NYC I spent hours in traffic yelling, cursing, and swearing I'd never do it again. Expecially right after they start charging the Congestion fee. I don't what to pay it! I would like to take subway instead then,

I think WFH should always be an option for regular office workers who do most of their work on a computer/phone. It cuts down on traffic, waste/pollution, and it saves everyone money.

Although in this situation I suspect most of those workers don't drive into Manhattan everyday. It's instead their bosses who like to drive-in to the city once a week and see how the office workers are doing and be reminded how nice it is to be a boss.

New Yorkers, thoughts?

... Read moreDriving in New York City can indeed be a daunting experience, especially for newcomers. The sprawling city, known for its iconic skyline and bustling streets, faces different challenges when it comes to vehicular traffic. With the recent introduction of congestion pricing, drivers now have an additional burden to consider. Many residents argue that driving in Manhattan is becoming prohibitively expensive and frustrating. Long wait times, constant traffic jams, and rising costs can leave drivers feeling helpless. For commuter workers, the added pressure of the congestion charge fuels discussions about the benefits of remote work. Implementing a work-from-home policy can significantly reduce the number of vehicles on the road, leading to a decrease in pollution and a more sustainable urban environment. This not only saves individuals money on commuting costs but also encourages a more flexible and balanced lifestyle. As discussions continue about transportation policies in urban areas, it's crucial for city officials to consider the views and challenges faced by everyday citizens. Furthermore, as public transportation can be a more efficient alternative, exploring its potential might provide a viable solution to alleviate the current traffic crisis in NYC. As a New Yorker, sharing thoughts and experiences can contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of how to tackle these urban challenges together.

I’ve only driven through New York for a road trip, and that was hell. I can’t imagine just having to drive around daily, and navigate through there. 10/10 would not recommend.

Ever since the congestion fee was added, I stop driving there. Rather take the transport or use app-sharing ride. Or take a commuter bus
