It makes no sense for wasting the 30 mins.
Traffic stops should be quick, hand over your ID, hear what you did wrong, and move on. But lately, I’ve seen so many viral videos where people argue for 30 minutes instead of just giving their driver’s license. They are demanding the cop explain why they were pulled over first, or refusing until their requests are met.
Like, what’s the end goal here? Do they think the officer’s gonna eat their license? I know some states require cops to say why they pulled you over before asking for ID but even then, once they explain, why keep fighting? It just drags the whole thing out.
Last month, I was stuck behind a guy who refused to show his ID for 20 minutes. The cop was calm and explained he had rolled through a stop sign, but the guy kept yelling: “Why do you need my ID?!” By the end, there was a line of cars behind us, and he still got a ticket anyway. Is this just pride? Do people think not showing ID is some win?

They say it is against their rights in long run people are being big babies and probably are hiding something that they don’t want the cops to figure out
