My ✨Dream✨ Dog Breeds
Made this for a group but love lemon8's editor so I'll post here too 🌸
So, I don't think its wise to own all of these at the same time. Especially since some are inclined to SSA..
*cough* Akita *cough*
But heres my list of breeds I realistically think I may own at some point 🩷
1) The Japanese Akita
No surprise there.. they're my favorite breed and most likely my next. Just learning about them for the past few years as really helped me become a better owner of my pom/spitz, because Akitas ✨️demand✨️ the type of respect and dignity we should we giving every dog. They'd be a great protection dog on hikes and winter camping trips when I'm alone. 🩵 Coloration? I'm obsessed with the red brindles and it will probably be a male.
2) Yakutian Laika
Love how intelligent this breed is and how they love to show it. I could see myself kicksledding on my property with them, using their fur for fiber arts and using the Hunger For Words speech buttons! (Which, I think they would genuinely enjoy using and communicating with). They would really *enjoy* the hiking and winter activities. I can also see running with them, I love to run 💕 They're also velcro, which I love in contrast to the aloof and stoic Akita. ❄️Coloration: Love so many, but the black and white speckled ones are my favorite. Gray is awesome as well as brown and sable.
🌀 From here, my ranking gets a bit skewed. The next few are all a toss up. 🌀
3) Newfoundland
Newfies!! Ah, this breed is close to my heart. I know one day I'm destined to have a newfie. 💕 The grooming is on another level (which I'm looking to be 100% self reliant w my dogs, so, doable but meh) and although I've heard they can hike, they are a lumbering breed with big bones and shouldn't be going up anything steep and climbing is hard. But..... every time I see them, especially in person, they're boosted all the way to 2 and I'm like, the grooming worth it! Who needs a good hike anyway! *says the person whos spirit depends on hiking lol* 🌲 I also feel like I've had too many weird coincidences running into newfies in life and when I see one I make it my mission to ask to pet it. Like, you don't understand we've got a soul connection 😅 so, one day.. Coloration: brown newfs have my heart. ..the problem is I want a male which might not go great with a male Akita.
4) Chow Chow
I adore Chows. To me theg have one of the best temprements (ofc coming from an Akita fan/Nihon Ken fan). Also, they're probably the cutest dog breed in my eyes besides maybe some of the Tibetan Mastiffs. All in all, they're too short to be in my first picks, like I think having them as a solo companion just wouldn't suit all my needs but as a pack, fantastic. Also, I've tossed around the idea of a rescue Chow mix. Just about anything mixed with a Chow is near perfection for me. When I see them at the shelter I am tempted. Mixed with a Mastiff they're maybe the perfect mix, also a lab? both fantastic height wise as well. 💜 Coloration? Any. All are awesome. 🙈 I'm feral for the merles. ik. ik. I'd like a girl. Also, has to have a more square muzzle.. can't stand too brachy noses.
5) Tamaskan
Tamaskans so far are the best wolf look-alikes out there. I think they've got a nice temprement, a little on the shy side but I can see kicksledding with them as well. STUNNING and very smart. I think I'd enjoy seeing how their minds work. Coloration: When they're more brown, like a coyote its my fav. Any gender but likely female. I can see having them as a companion with my first 2 on the list.
6) Italian Greyhound
My favorite little breed. 🩷 Yeah, they got a short coat, yeah I'd have to dress them up to go outside in the UP winters.. but.. I can carry it around in my hoodie and snuggle it all day AND it would enjoy it?? Also carry it around in my backpack on winter hikes, and it would zip around on the property. These dogs are just ridiculously cute and I LOVE the idea of having one and a newfie at the same time 🤣 Newfoundlands are so gentle I think it would be a sweet pair. I also love a good sighthound and miss snuggling a little velcro dog after spending months with a cuddly little Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix. 💕
7) Kai Ken
Kai Ken are a part of the Nihon Ken (6 native Japanese Dog Breeds) like the Japanese Akita. I adore the Nihon Ken, and the Kai Ken are my 2nd favorite of them. I love that they have that intelligent aloof edge like the Nihon Ken typically do, but are sweeter and more responsive towards their owners than the others. Also, they're smaller but I do like their size. I'd love to see how their minds work and own another Nihon Ken.
8) Greyhound
🍃 Greyhounds make me emotional idky lol I can see myself adopting one when I'm maybe in my 50s or something.. they just don't match my lifestyle right now but I think their personalities make beautiful companions. Also, every Greyhound is a celebrity in my eyes. 😅
Honorable mentions:
✨️ American Akita- Also fantastic. I'm not the most passionate about the breeds lineage. But, love the temprement! I could see maybe when im 50 rescuing one and enjoying that training process. It would be tough but rewarding.
✨️ If I had a serious homestead, I may consider a Tibetan Mastiff but.. thats a big if.
Thats all! 🌸 As always, research before you buy! Contact and ethical breeder! I've researched these extensively... because its my special interest!

Choosing the perfect dog breed to add to your family is both exciting and challenging. This list of dream breeds offers a glimpse into the unique qualities and personalities of some truly remarkable dogs, each with their own special traits and needs. Starting with the Japanese Akita, this breed is well-known for its dignity and independent spirit. Akitas require owners who respect their boundaries and appreciate their protective qualities, making them excellent companions for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking and winter camping. The author’s preference for red brindle males highlights the beauty and strength of this breed. The Yakutian Laika stands out for its intelligence and enthusiasm for activities like kicksledding and hiking. Their thick fur is not only suited for cold weather but also lends itself to fiber arts, showing how a dog's coat can inspire creative hobbies. The breed’s velcro-like attachment to owners contrasts nicely with the more aloof Akita, adding balance to an active lifestyle. Newfoundlands are beloved for their gentle giant demeanor, though they require considerable grooming and may not be as agile for steep hikes. The author’s heartfelt connection to Newfies and fascination with brown coloration shows the breed’s emotional significance, despite practical challenges. The Chow Chow, admired for temperament and cuteness, is ideally part of a pack rather than a solo companion. The possibility of rescue mixes involving Chows offers an accessible path to experience this breed’s unique characteristics, particularly the enticing merle coloration and preference for square muzzles. Tamaskans, resembling wolves, are not only stunning but possess an intelligent and shy temperament. Their compatibility with outdoor activities like kicksledding makes them appealing for adventurous owners. The brown coyote-like coloration and preference for female dogs provide further insight into the author’s tastes. Small breeds like the Italian Greyhound combine portability and affection. Though sensitive to cold, their snuggly nature makes them perfect for indoor winter companions and hiking in protective clothing. Pairing an Italian Greyhound with a Newfoundland presents a charming contrast of size and energy levels. Kai Kens, another native Japanese breed like the Akita, strike a balance between aloofness and responsiveness, fitting well with those who appreciate intelligence and manageable size. Greyhounds, while not matching the author’s current lifestyle, are recognized for their graceful personalities and are often thought of as noble companions suitable for later stages of life. This collection showcases not only rare breeds but also the thoughtful considerations of temperament, compatibility, and ethical breeding practices. It encourages thorough research and responsible ownership, which are essential when welcoming any dog into your home. Whatever breed you choose, understanding their unique needs and characteristics will allow you to build a deeply rewarding bond. Remember to prioritize adoption or contact ethical breeders who prioritize health and temperament to ensure a happy and healthy future for both you and your canine companion.

I really want a Newfie (Newfoundland) Australian Shepard and Dalmatian
