Often, we accept every thought as absolute truth, which can lead to unnecessary stress and distorted emotions. For instance, shifting from "I'm an anxious person" to "I'm having anxious thoughts" helped me understand that feelings of anxiety are temporary and don't define my entire being. One important lesson I've learned is that controlling what thoughts come up isn't always possible, but I can choose which ones to focus on. This mindset greatly reduces the power negative thoughts hold over me. Positive thinking is helpful, but I also embrace the complexity of my feelings instead of forcing forced optimism. For example, if I feel bad, I no longer assume my thoughts must be right. Instead, I recognize the connection between certain thoughts and feelings, like wondering if eating leftover food was a good idea, to avoid unnecessary guilt or worry. Swapping self-judging thoughts like "I'm thinking it so it must be true" with more balanced ones such as "Just because I think it, doesn't make it true" gives me space to examine reality more clearly. These simple thought swaps have helped me develop a healthier relationship with my mind, promoting emotional well-being and resilience. I encourage everyone to practice observing thoughts with curiosity and kindness, creating mental space to respond intentionally rather than react impulsively.
