It's unsettling when you don't know what to do when scared, and it can make you wonder, 'why am I scared to do anything?' But I've learned something truly profound that has helped me immensely in overcoming fear: there is no need to fear, and there is no need to be afraid in this season. What changed for me was realizing that we are covered and we are protected. This isn't just a comforting thought; it's a foundation that allows us to truly stop being scared. When I say 'protected,' I mean your mind is protected, your spirit is protected, and your body is protected. It extends to your finances, your home, your family, friends, and children. With everything that's going on in the world, there truly is a special layer of Protection that you and your loved ones are covered by. This belief has been my anchor for how to live without fear. So, when those moments of panic or dread creep in, what do you do when you are scared? Here are a few things that have helped me make myself not scared: Embrace the "No Need to Fear" Affirmation: I often repeat phrases to myself like, "There is no need to fear because God is keeping you safe and in His perfect peace." This simple act helps rewire my thoughts and reminds me of that profound protection. It's a powerful tool for how to stop being scared. Grounding in Gratitude: When I'm feeling overwhelmed, I list five things I'm grateful for. This shifts my focus from fear to blessings. It's a small but effective way to interrupt the cycle of 'why am I so afraid all the time?' Connect with Your Spiritual Side: For me, this means prayer or quiet reflection. It reinforces the idea that "you are covered and you are protected by God." This connection provides immense strength and helps to quiet the noise of anxiety. It's a practical step in learning how to overcome fear. Mindful Movement: Sometimes, just a short walk, stretching, or even deep breathing can help release tension. It's a way to acknowledge the physical sensation of fear and gently guide your body back to a state of calm. It's one of the "things to do when scared" that really brings immediate relief. Talk it Out (or Write it Down): Sharing your fears with a trusted friend, family member, or even just journaling can be incredibly therapeutic. Getting those 'why am I so afraid?' thoughts out of your head and into the open can diminish their power. This helps you understand what to do when scared instead of just dwelling on it. Learning how to overcome fears isn't about never feeling scared again; it's about having a toolkit to navigate those feelings when they arise. It's about knowing that even when you're feeling frightened for no reason, you are not alone and you have an incredible source of strength and protection. This journey of how to not be scared has been transformative for me, helping me find peace and truly live life more fully, knowing I am safe and covered.
