Sleep Deprived

... Read moreUgh, another night, another early morning! It's wild how sleep deprivation just becomes a part of the #momlife package, isn't it? Reading about my 1:30 AM hustle might sound extreme, but honestly, it's a reality for so many of us navigating the 24/7 demands of parenting, entrepreneurship, and just, well, life! I know that feeling of just desperately loving the idea of sleep, even if the reality is often interrupted or non-existent. For a long time, I beat myself up about not getting enough rest, thinking I was doing something wrong. But then I realized, it's not about being 'perfect' at sleep; it's about finding small wins and coping mechanisms that get you through. One thing I've found incredibly helpful is carving out micro-moments of peace. It's not always a full nap, but sometimes it's just 10 minutes of quiet meditation before the kids wake up, or even just sitting down with a warm cup of coffee while they play independently. Those small pauses, even when you're still technically 'on,' can feel like a mini-reset button. I've also learned to be incredibly efficient with my downtime. If the kids are finally settled, instead of immediately tackling another chore, sometimes I'll just sit and scroll through inspiring Lemon8 posts or read a chapter of a book. It’s a mental break that, while not sleep, prevents me from reaching total burnout. Another game-changer for me was embracing the 'power nap' concept, even if it's just 20 minutes when my youngest is napping or older kids are at school. It's not always possible, but when it is, it makes a huge difference. I also try to optimize my bedtime routine, even on nights when I know I'll be pulled back awake. A warm shower, some calming music, and avoiding screens for an hour before bed—it doesn't guarantee a full night, but it does help me fall asleep faster when I do get the chance. And for those nights when you're up working on your side hustle, like my Amazon/Etsy shop, remember to give yourself grace. Sometimes, that's the only time we have to pursue our passions. Just make sure to build in recovery time where you can. Maybe the next day, you prioritize an earlier bedtime or ask for help from a partner or friend so you can catch a quick snooze. We're all in this sleep-deprived boat together, and it's okay to admit we're tired and to seek out those precious moments of rest whenever, wherever, we can find them!
