No protein shakes… this is what I eat
#lemon8challenge #lemon8badgehunt
I used to think eating healthy meant spending more money or drinking protein shakes every day…
But honestly, I just wasn’t being intentional.
I was eating out almost every day, spending $10–$20 without thinking about it.
So I recreated one of my favorite meals at home — avocado toast with eggs, turkey bacon, and red pepper flakes.
Simple, high protein, and actually filling.
This week I spent about $45 on groceries and made multiple meals from it.
Now I feel better, I’m saving money, and I’m actually consistent.
If you’re trying to eat better, don’t overcomplicate it.
Start simple.
Over time, I realized that eating healthily doesn't require complicated recipes or costly supplements such as protein shakes. By focusing on whole foods and simple ingredients, I managed to create fulfilling meals that kept me energized throughout the day. One of my go-to meals is avocado toast topped with eggs and turkey bacon, seasoned with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. Avocados not only add creaminess but also provide healthy fats and fiber, which help keep you full longer. Eggs contribute high-quality protein and essential nutrients, while turkey bacon is a leaner alternative to regular bacon and still adds great flavor. Another key factor in my approach is budgeting and meal planning. I spent roughly $45 on groceries for the week, including items like fresh avocados, eggs, turkey bacon, bananas, and salads. Using ingredients strategically, I prepared multiple meals without the need to eat out daily, which significantly reduced my spending. Shopping for real food items without added artificial flavors or preservatives is a game changer. For example, I chose avocado mash products seasoned lightly with sea salt and black pepper to make meal prep quicker while still enjoying natural flavors. By being intentional about what I eat and how I shop, I've maintained consistency in my diet without feeling deprived or overwhelmed. Simple meals don't have to sacrifice taste or nutritional value. Starting with basic high-protein, nutrient-dense foods is an effective way to build a sustainable, healthy eating habit. If you're someone who struggles with the idea that healthy eating means expensive groceries or protein shakes, consider trying this approach. Focus on affordable, easy-to-make meals that nourish your body and support your goals. It's about enjoying food and feeling good, not complicating your lifestyle.
