Sitting with Nature

Sometimes when I'm feeling antsy

but I don't know what I wanna do

My brain is busy

I feel swirling energy reaching for

acknowledgment in my body

I have a special place I like to go

A change of scenery always helps

By the water

Lined with trees

Spanish moss dancing in the breeze

I might put my toes in

But for now, I just rest

under the canopy of the trees

I talk to the river

Share what's on my mind and heart

Sharing gratitude for what feels delicious right now

Grounding, connecting with the roots right below

Deeper and deeper, through the water, my roots grow

Looking up at the blue sky

watching birds fly by

The sun is dappling through the shade leaves

Held by Mother Earth

This is where I can settle my mind and body

Within moments

I am connected above and below

In the seat of my soul

I am one with all of creation

My prior thoughts given freely to the river to flow and transmute and become something new

Things have a way of resolving themselves

when we surrender control

I am grateful for all divine assistance and support

And so it is

It is done

Everything is beautiful again

Aho

Many people find solace in natural environments, which offer a serene backdrop for reflection and grounding. Engaging with nature can significantly improve mental health, as studies show that spending time outdoors reduces stress, anxiety, and depression. When you immerse yourself in natural settings, like riversides or wooded areas, it encourages not only relaxation but also mindfulness. By simply observing the flow of the river or the rustling of leaves, you can train your mind to focus on the present moment rather than overwhelming thoughts. Grounding techniques, such as feeling the earth beneath your feet or listening to the sounds of nature, can create a deeper connection between your body and the environment. Connecting with nature may involve activities like hiking, outdoor yoga, or meditation by water bodies. It’s essential to create a dedicated space for these practices in your routine. This mindfulness practice allows for the release of pent-up emotions, fostering a sense of gratitude and belonging. To deepen this experience, try journaling about your feelings or sharing them with nature, as the original text suggests. Expressing gratitude for your surroundings amplifies the positive effects of nature, enhancing emotional well-being. Incorporating natural elements into your daily life, whether by taking a walk, gardening, or simply spending time outdoors, can significantly uplift your spirit. Remember: every moment spent with nature is an investment in your mental and emotional health. Aho.
