I had my klc for 3 days. I bought it a case, and I bought the kobo stylus, and I tested all the features.
So why did I return it?
To clarify, I LOVED it. But on the 3rd day it was at 5% and needed to charge. I plugged it in and resumed reading while it was charging. Maybe this is where I went wrong and maybe DONT do what I did.
Because a few minutes later it completely shut down and NEVER charged again.
I looked up every possible solution and I tried EVERYTHING. Eventually I called customer service and they were very nice but unfortunately there was nothing I could do to revive it.
The kobo libra colour comes with a 1 yr warranty so I’m getting a replacement to try again. But it will take some time to get here💔 I really hope it was a one-off situation or a me thing and not because of the device itself. I’ve seen many people loving it and I want to love it too.
Moral of the story: DO NOT use it when it’s charging on the brink of death just in case it may be eternal 💀
Even though my Kobo Libra Colour experience took an unexpected turn, I wanted to share a bit more about what I loved about it during those first few days, especially for anyone curious about how it feels for 'reading in hand.' Holding the Kobo Libra Colour was genuinely a dream. It felt incredibly lightweight and balanced, making long reading sessions super comfortable. The ergonomic design with the page-turn buttons on the side is a game-changer – my thumb naturally rested right there, making it easy to flip pages without shifting my grip. It truly felt like it was designed for reading. Even with a case, it wasn't bulky at all. I have fairly small hands, and it fit perfectly, making it ideal for one-handed reading. I can totally see why so many people rave about its comfort. The color screen was a pleasant surprise. While it's not vibrant like a tablet, the subtle colors made covers pop and illustrations in graphic novels look lovely. For regular text, it was crisp and clear, just what you expect from an e-ink display. Reading outdoors was fantastic, no glare whatsoever, and the front light made nighttime reading a breeze without straining my eyes. The screen size felt just right, offering a good amount of text per page without feeling cramped or too large. I also picked up the Kobo stylus, and exploring its features was fun. Taking notes directly on PDFs or highlighting passages felt quite natural and responsive. It added another layer to the e-reading experience that I hadn't had before, which was a big draw for me. If you're someone who likes to annotate or use your e-reader for more than just reading prose, the stylus adds significant value. Before the unfortunate incident, the battery life seemed promising. I probably got a good 10-12 hours of reading out of it before it hit that critical 5% mark. I was confident it would last me through several books, which is typical for Kobo devices. So, if you're considering the Kobo Libra Colour, I honestly believe it's a fantastic device for reading in hand, offering a premium feel and a great display. Just, please, take my personal cautionary tale to heart: avoid using it while it's charging at very low battery. Let it get a decent charge first, or use it unplugged. I genuinely hope my replacement unit doesn't have the same hiccup because, otherwise, it’s a joy to hold and read on, and offers so much potential for an enhanced reading experience.
