HAPPY VIABILITY WEEK!! 🩷🤰🏻 yesterday we had our 24 week growth scan! i can’t believe we will enter the third trimester in less than a month!!!! my jaw was on the floor when the obgyn handed me my third tri bloodwork & glucose test order.. 🤯 as for baby girls growth, we are still going to be monitoring her with my obgyn office and MFM since she’s still such a small bean! while everything looks good, she’s measuring around the 12th percentile right now. #pregnancy #pregnancyjourney #24weeks #viabilityweek #highriskpregnancy

This time is often accompanied by important growth scans to monitor fetal development closely. At 24 weeks, ultrasounds assess the baby's size, anatomy, and overall health. For babies measuring smaller than average, such as around the 12th percentile, doctors typically recommend continued monitoring with both an obstetrician (OBGYN) and a maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) specialist to ensure the baby’s growth is on track. Small size can sometimes indicate intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), which requires careful observation to manage any risks. Additionally, this period commonly involves preparation for third trimester bloodwork and glucose testing to screen for gestational diabetes, anemia, and infections, all crucial for maintaining mom and baby’s health in the coming weeks. Entering the third trimester soon means pregnancy symptoms might intensify, and medical visits may become more frequent. Staying informed about these tests, scans, and what to expect can help expectant parents feel empowered and ready for the final stretch. Engaging in a supportive community or journaling the pregnancy journey can provide emotional strength during times of uncertainty, especially when facing concerns like high-risk pregnancy or small fetal size. Ultimately, following medical advice, attending all prenatal appointments, and maintaining a balanced lifestyle with nutrition and rest are key to supporting a healthy pregnancy progression from viability week onward.
