FIBRE FINDS! Pt 3
Protein, Calories & Fat loss get all the attention.
But fibre? It’s one of the most underrated nutrients for your health, and most people aren’t getting anywhere near enough of it.
Fibre isn’t just about “going to the toilet.” It plays a huge role in your digestion, gut health, microbiome diversity, blood sugar regulation, cholesterol, satiety, energy levels, and even reducing bloating in the long term.
Your gut contains trillions of bacteria, and fibre is the fuel that helps the beneficial bacteria thrive. A healthy microbiome supports everything from digestion to immunity, hormone health, and overall wellbeing.
Yet so many people focus solely on protein while completely overlooking this piece of the puzzle.
These are some of my favourite high-fibre finds from Woolworths that can make hitting your daily fibre target so much easier. Small additions to your meals can make a huge difference over time. Aside from your fruit & veggies that are also packed with fiber :)
Your body doesn’t just need enough food. It needs the right foods to support your gut, digestion, and long-term health.
Aim to eat more plants, more variety, and more fibre. Your gut will thank you for it. 🤍

From my experience, incorporating a variety of high-fibre foods into daily meals not only improves digestion but also helps sustain energy levels throughout the day. For example, I love adding organic chickpeas or a mix of red kidney, pinto, and black beans to Mexican-style dishes or salads. They are not only rich in fibre but also add a great texture and plant-based protein. Another personal favorite are pitted dates, which contain around 5 grams of fibre per three dates and are packed with essential micronutrients. I often include them in protein balls, smoothies, or even baked goods to subtly boost the fibre content without sacrificing taste. They’re an easy and sweet way to up fibre intake. I also found that swapping regular bread for wholemeal spelt and chia bread significantly increased my fibre consumption—two slices provide about 9 grams of fibre, which outperforms most conventional breads. This simple switch made my breakfasts more satisfying and helped keep hunger cravings at bay. Additionally, sprinkling organic black chia seeds or oats with added fibre on top of yogurt or mixing them into smoothies has been a game-changer. One tablespoon of chia seeds delivers about 5 grams of fibre, supporting gut health and providing omega-3s simultaneously. If you’re looking for a convenient supplement, psyllium husk powder is a natural fibre source that can be added to drinks or baking. One teaspoon usually offers 4 grams of fibre and promotes digestive regularity. Overall, I’ve learned that aiming for at least 25 grams of daily fibre from a variety of plant-based sources not only supports digestion and gut microbiome diversity but also helps regulate blood sugar, reduce bloating, and maintain fullness longer. Small, consistent additions of these nutritious foods from Woolworths can make hitting those targets effortless and enjoyable. Remember, increasing fibre gradually and drinking plenty of water maximizes benefits and reduces discomfort. Your gut will truly thank you for these mindful choices!
