Travel rules: my opinions while flying

My first time flying was last year, and I thought I was going to be really terrified, but honestly I was just a little nervous. Here are some things I learned that helped me while flying for the very first time .

1. Traveling with someone who knows about flying already helped a lot.

2. Packing enough for one checked bag and one carry on, I was able to fit everything I needed without paying extra.

3. Headphones are a must !!! This was able to keep me calm while listening to music or take a nap

4. Gum !!!! When they say you ears well pop they never lied, however it wasn’t painful just uncomfortable

5. On local flights first class really isn’t first class I wouldn’t waste more money on it, but it’s your preference

6. Snacks !!! Depending on your flight and how long it is it’s important to maybe have snacks, you can get very hungry or bored lol it’s also a good distraction

If you guys would like to know more just comment down below!!!!! 🫶🏽🫶🏽🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

... Read moreWhen I was planning my first trip, I totally underestimated the pre-flight part! First things first, online check-in is a lifesaver. Doing it 24 hours before your flight saves so much time and stress at the airport. I remember thinking I had to do everything at the counter, but getting that boarding pass on my phone made me feel so much more prepared. It's one of those things I wish I knew before my first time flying that would have eased my nerves. Then there's the airport itself. Seriously, arrive early! For my first flight, I aimed for two hours before a domestic flight, and honestly, if I did it again, I'd give myself three. Security lines can be unpredictable. Speaking of security, this was a moment of mild panic for me. Remember to have your ID and boarding pass ready. You'll need to take off shoes, belts, and empty your pockets. Laptops and liquids (remember the 3-1-1 rule for carry-ons!) need to come out of your bag. It feels like a lot, but just follow instructions, and don't be afraid to ask a TSA agent if you're unsure. Everyone's been a first-timer! Once through security, finding your gate is next. Airports have clear signs, but checking your boarding pass and the departure screens regularly is key. Grab a bite, use the restroom, and just relax a bit. The boarding process can seem a bit chaotic, but usually, they call by groups. Don't rush; everyone gets on! Just listen for your group number. I found it helpful to have my headphones ready even before getting on the plane to just zone out a little during the wait. Inside the plane, seat comfort can make or break your flight. Even if it's a short one, try to get up and stretch your legs occasionally if permitted. Staying hydrated is also super important – water, not just coffee! And yes, as I mentioned, gum for your ears is a game-changer, but sipping water during ascent and descent helps too. For entertainment, download movies, podcasts, or music beforehand. Relying on in-flight Wi-Fi or entertainment can be risky. One thing I wish I knew was to bring an empty water bottle to fill up after security – saves money and keeps you hydrated! What about turbulence? It can be a bit startling. I remember my first time, I gripped the armrests! Just remember it's a normal part of flying, like bumps in a car. The plane is designed to handle it. Flight attendants are also there to help; don't hesitate to press the call button if you need anything or feel unwell. Finally, the landing! It's usually smoother than takeoff. Once you're safely on the ground, resist the urge to jump up immediately. Wait for the seatbelt sign to turn off. Gathering your belongings calmly and then exiting the plane is the way to go. If you checked a bag, follow the signs to baggage claim. This whole process, from stepping off the plane to collecting your luggage, can take a bit of time, so factor that into your onward travel plans. Overall, my biggest takeaway from flying for the first time is that it's an incredible experience, even with a few nerves. Preparation is key, but so is embracing the journey. Don't be afraid to ask questions, whether it's to airport staff, flight attendants, or even fellow passengers. Most people are happy to help a first-timer. It truly was an eye-opening experience, and I'm already looking forward to my next flight, feeling much more confident thanks to these little tips and tricks I picked up along the way!
