No more dry cakes

Did you know that waiting for a clean toothpick when checking to see if your cake is done, often leads to a dryer cake?

That’s how I always did it until recently I learned that cakes are actually done around 205-210 degrees. (Depending on the cake) If you put a toothpick in it at that temp it’s not going to come out clean but it is actually done!

It’s actually best to see if the cake is done by using an internal temp cooking thermometer. The cake will finish setting when you pull it out and will be moist every time! The more you know!

Many bakers rely on the toothpick test to determine if their cake is done, but this method can be misleading, as cakes often finish baking at an internal temperature of 205-210°F (about 96-99°C). When using this temperature gauge, maintain the integrity of the cake by testing it with a thermometer instead. This allows for a more accurate reading, ensuring that the interior remains moist. After you've removed the cake from the oven, allow it to rest; this is when the residual heat completes the baking process and helps lock in moisture. Incorporate additional flavors and moisture-boosting ingredients, such as yogurt or sour cream, for added deliciousness. Learning about these subtle aspects can greatly enhance your baking skills and create celebratory cakes that everyone loves.
