Tired of spending $4.99 per refill for Dawn Powerwash? Well let’s make our own instead…

**EDITED TO ADD MORE CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS**

Keep that Dawn powerwash bottle and follow this recipe exact. Using that bottle fill:

1/2 the Powerwash bottle with cold water then fill remaining bottle with equal parts isopropyl alcohol and blue Dawn dish soap

Shake up and get to work! This is the best multipurpose cleaner! I use it for my dishes, counters, inside appliances, bathrooms, etc. i do not recommend using this on wood, or any super porous surface. *Granite is ok, but I’m not sure about marble or others of the like*

... Read moreOkay, so you've got the basic recipe down for your DIY Dawn Powerwash, and trust me, it's a game-changer for saving money and keeping things sparkling! But let's dive even deeper into how this fantastic homemade cleaner can revolutionize your entire cleaning routine. One of my absolute favorite ways to use this mixture is as a homemade shower spray. If you're like me, constantly battling soap scum and hard water spots, this is your secret weapon. After showering, give your walls, tub, and glass doors a quick spritz with your DIY Powerwash. Let it sit for a few minutes, then a quick wipe or rinse, and you'll notice a significant difference in preventing build-up. It makes weekly deep cleaning so much easier! It’s incredible how it tackles that stubborn residue. And speaking of tough messes, let's talk about its power as a DIY degreaser spray. My stove top used to be a nightmare with baked-on grease and food grime. Now, I just spray a generous amount of my homemade solution onto the affected areas, let it sit for 5-10 minutes (for really tough spots, sometimes even longer!), and then wipe it away with a damp cloth or a gentle scrub brush. You'll be amazed at how easily the grime off stove top lifts away. It works wonders on oven racks, range hoods, and even oily splatters on the backsplash. This truly is a powerful diy degreaser spray that saves you from harsh chemicals and endless scrubbing. Beyond the kitchen and bathroom, this concoction truly shines as a versatile DIY all-purpose cleaner. I use it for wiping down sticky kitchen cabinets, refreshing my trash cans, cleaning plastic bins, and even spot-cleaning smudges on painted walls (always test in an inconspicuous area first!). The key ingredient, isopropyl alcohol, isn't just there to help it dry quickly; it’s a fantastic solvent that helps cut through grease and oils, and it also acts as a mild disinfectant. This is why it’s so effective at cleaning and leaving surfaces sparkling without streaks – addressing what many wonder about what can isopropyl alcohol clean. Now, you might be asking, what can you mix with vinegar to clean? While vinegar is another popular natural cleaner, often used for descaling and hard water, it's generally not recommended to mix it directly with dish soap in this specific powerwash formulation, as it can sometimes reduce the soap's effectiveness. For this DIY Powerwash recipe, the combination of dish soap and isopropyl alcohol is perfectly balanced for cutting grease and cleaning effectively. If you're looking for an alternative to Dawn dish soap, especially if you don't have it on hand, you could try other concentrated grease-cutting dish soaps, but I've found that Dawn Ultra dish soap consistently delivers the best results for this particular blend, just like the bottle you see in the image. And using 91% Isopropyl Alcohol ensures maximum cleaning power. Remember, always follow the exact proportions: half your Dawn Platinum Powerwash spray bottle filled with cold water, then equal parts isopropyl alcohol and blue Dawn dish soap. Give it a good shake before each use. It’s a simple, effective, and incredibly budget-friendly way to keep your home sparkling clean!
