Christmas things

... Read moreStarting new Christmas traditions has brought so much joy to our family, and our Grinch-themed gift train is definitely a highlight! If you're looking for unique 'Christmas theme things' to make your holiday extra special, a family gift train like ours could be perfect for you. This year, we decided to get creative with our gift exchange. Instead of just piling presents under the tree, we assigned each family their own decorated box to represent a 'car' on our Christmas train. The kids absolutely loved helping to decorate! We went with a fun Grinchly Christmas theme, which was a huge hit. Imagine a large, green Grinch-themed gift box, adorned with sparkling red tinsel, delicate white snowflakes, and even striped wheels with cheerful bows. We even had a 'Mt. Crumpit Who-ville Grinch' sign in the background, making the whole setup feel truly magical. Each box became a unique piece of art, reflecting our family's personality. If you're thinking of starting your own Christmas gift train, here are some tips based on my experience: 1. Pick a Theme: While our Grinch theme was fantastic, you could choose anything! Think classic Santa's workshop, a snowy wonderland, a gingerbread house village, or even individual boxes themed to each family's favorite Christmas movie or character. This is where you can really get creative with 'christmas theme things' and personalize it for your loved ones. 2. Gather Your Supplies: You'll need sturdy cardboard boxes (various sizes work well for different 'train cars'), wrapping paper, paint, tinsel, bows, ribbons, cotton balls for snow, glitter, and craft glue. Don't forget construction paper for details like wheels or windows! For our Grinch box, we used plenty of green and red, just like the classic story. 3. Decorate Together: This is the best part! Make it a family activity. We laid out all our supplies and let everyone's imagination run wild. For our Grinch box, we used bright green paper as the base, then added red tinsel around the edges, cut out white paper snowflakes, and drew on big, mischievous Grinch eyes. The striped wheels with bows were a simple addition that really made it look like a festive train car. Seeing the 'festive Christmas train made from multiple decorated boxes' come to life was truly heartwarming. 4. Arrange Your Train: Once all the boxes are decorated, arrange them in a line on the floor or along a wall. It creates such a festive display in the living room! We made sure to label each box clearly so everyone knew where to place their gifts. This arrangement not only looks amazing but also keeps gifts organized. 5. The Gift Exchange: On Christmas morning, everyone places the gifts for a particular family into their designated box. The excitement builds as the train fills up! It adds an extra layer of anticipation and spectacle to the gift-giving process, making it much more interactive than a simple pile of presents. This tradition not only makes the gift exchange more organized and visually appealing but also creates lasting memories and a unique focal point for your holiday decor. It's truly one of the most delightful 'Christmas theme things' we've introduced, making our holiday season even more personalized and fun. I hope this inspires you to start your own unique family Christmas tradition!
