Old where???
This is how I am trying to be when I get older! NOT on medication and barely getting around! #olderme #gettingolder #agewithstrength #motivation
I've been so incredibly inspired lately by stories of women and men who are absolutely redefining what it means to 'get older.' Seriously, when I think about my future, I don't want to be someone who's constantly on medication or struggling to move around. My goal is to age with strength and vitality, and seeing people like Ernestine Shepherd and Wendy Ida just fuels that fire! Ernestine Shepherd, for instance, is a true legend. Can you believe she only started her fitness journey at 56? Before that, she was just like many of us, not particularly active. But a turning point led her to the gym, and she completely transformed herself. It wasn't about competitive bodybuilding at first, but about feeling better and stronger. Now, well into her 80s, she's a testament to consistency and discipline. Her training isn't overly complicated; it involves a lot of lifting, running, and a clean diet. What really strikes me about her is her dedication – she wakes up early, trains, and maintains a positive outlook. It really shows that it's never too late to start, and that transformation isn't just for your 20s or 30s. Her 'before and after' story isn't just physical; it's about a complete lifestyle shift that brought her incredible health and happiness. Then there's Wendy Ida, another powerhouse. She started her fitness path at 43, proving that even mid-life can be the perfect time for a fresh start. Wendy's journey is all about empowering yourself through fitness, and she's incredibly passionate about helping others find their strength, regardless of age. Seeing her at 64, with such incredible energy and physique, makes me realize that our limits are often self-imposed. She emphasizes consistency, proper nutrition, and finding joy in movement, whether it's weights or cardio. And it's not just these two incredible women! The photos I saw also featured Jill Samter, who at 52, made an amazing transformation by losing 35 pounds and embracing fitness. Then there are inspiring men like Jeffry (84) and Jacinto (83) who are still lifting weights and showing off incredible strength, alongside Lucie (56) who's a beacon of power. These stories collectively illustrate that 'getting older' doesn't have to mean 'getting weaker.' What I'm taking away from all of this is that it's truly about a mindset shift. It's about deciding that you can be strong, healthy, and independent as you age. It involves a commitment to regular physical activity – finding something you enjoy, whether it's weight training like Ernestine and Wendy, running, or even vigorous walking. It also means paying attention to what you eat, fueling your body for performance and longevity. These individuals aren't just hitting the gym; they're living lives that prioritize their well-being, proving that age is just a number when it comes to strength and vitality. I'm actively looking for ways to incorporate more strength training and consistent activity into my own routine, hoping to follow in their amazing footsteps and never have to ask "Old where???" again!
