Upstairs Setup
As a c-section momma w/ doctors order to avoid stairs😅
Here’s the list:
1. Diaper caddy: filled with diapers, snotsucker, my vitamins, medicine, & earth mama nipple butter
2. Dr. Brown’s bottles: best bottles to use in my opinion, used them for my first child & now my second
3. Distilled water: will most likely be buying regular water next time, from my understanding you don’t need to boil this water but Kendamil formula needs to be mixed in with boiled water so that’s what I will be doing
4. Chicco bottle warmer: to reheat formula stored in the fridge. So easy to use and convenient to have
5. GROWNSY water boiler: since I can’t go downstairs to boil water this has been a LIFE SAVER! I’m able to boil the water within minutes 👏
6. Kendamil formula: went with this formula because its formula is manufactured in the UK with high-quality standards, its gentle on babies tummies, and its priced at a reasonable cost
7. Hand sanitizer: self explanatory 🫧
8. Flowers: from my husbanddd 🥰
9. Hatch sound machine: also used this for my first child. LOOOVEd this for his naps now with my second baby I only use it at night. It really does help them sleep longer 10/10
10. Mini fridge: to store the formula and keep all of my liquids(water, juice, electrolyte drinks <trying to get my milk supply up>)
11. Baby Breeza bottle sterilizer & dryer: to sterilize and dry the baby bottles 💓
12. Wash basin for baby bottles: I don’t want to put/ wash my baby’s bottles in the sink so I got this wash basin. It collapses flat for easy storage
13. Bottle brush & Dawn dish spray: to wash bottles
14. Momcozy portable milk warmer: I’ve been out twice & having this portable milk warmer was chefs kiss! It holds the cold milk and when I’m ready to feed it to my child I turn it on and heats it in less than 2 mins LOVE LOVE 🤏😍
As a fellow mom who underwent a C-section, I completely understand the challenge of managing baby care without the easy use of stairs. Setting up a dedicated space upstairs with all essentials close at hand can be a lifesaver, just like this setup. I found that having a water boiler like the GROWNSY handy was crucial because boiling water for formula or sterilizing bottles downstairs every time was exhausting and not feasible with post-surgery restrictions. Similarly, the use of a Chicco bottle warmer and portable milk warmer saved me so much time and effort — warming bottles quickly without making a mess. They reduce colic and gas, which is a blessing for cranky babies, and pairing them with a reliable sterilizer like the Baby Breeza ensured hygiene without frequent trips to the kitchen. The collapsible wash basin kept everything tidy and separate from the kitchen sink, which felt more sanitary. I also incorporated a mini fridge upstairs to store formula and hydration drinks, which helped maintain my milk supply and kept feeding supplies fresh and accessible. The Hatch sound machine was incredible for naps and nighttime, greatly improving my babies' sleep schedule and giving me much-needed rest. Little comforts like flowers from a loved one make the space feel warm and less clinical, making recovery more pleasant. Hand sanitizer remains a must-have for quick cleanups. Overall, an upstairs baby care station with these thoughtful essentials not only supports physical healing by avoiding stairs but also promotes smoother daily routines and restful parenting moments. Everyone’s setup can be personalized depending on specific needs, but these items are a wonderful starting point for any new mom navigating the postpartum period.
