What makes you smile?
Happy Monday! Is your life just as chaotic? I have 5 kids two adult children living at home and three elementary kiddos. No one was ready for Monday lol
Balancing a busy household, especially with five kids ranging from elementary age to adulthood, can undoubtedly bring its share of chaos, especially on Mondays. I find that starting the day with a simple question like "What makes you smile?" helps shift the focus from the busy schedule to positive moments. Whether it’s sharing a quick joke with your kids, enjoying a favorite morning beverage, or even just appreciating a rare quiet moment, these simple joys can brighten the mood. In my experience, mornings are often the toughest, as everyone gets ready for the day. It helped me to prepare as much as possible the night before—laying out clothes, packing lunches, and planning breakfast in advance. This preparation reduces stress and gives more room for light-hearted moments. Another strategy that works is embracing imperfection. Not every Monday will go smoothly, and that’s okay. Sometimes, laughter comes from the unexpected messes or the disorganized moments. Celebrating those real-life moments with family members can make the day feel less overwhelming. Finally, carving out small pockets of quality time—like a brief chat while driving kids to school or a shared family meal—can create lasting smiles. The key is to focus on connection over control, which transforms Monday chaos into opportunities for joy.
