🏰 History of St Michael's Mount

St Michael's Mount is both a sanctuary, fortress and aristocratic lodge in British history.

The magical atmosphere is not only "beautiful view," it is full of the power of myth, belief and courage of the past.

🌋 Prehistoric - this used to be a volcanic island.

• Archaeological evidence shows that it has been inhabited since the Bronze Age.

• According to a legend in Christianity, "Saint Michael" reportedly appeared to fishermen in c.495 on this hilltop - just as he had appeared on Mont Saint-Michel in France before that.

• Later, temples and temples were built on the hilltop and began to become places of pilgrimage for Christians.

• In the 12th century, Edward the Confessor gave the island to a French monastery.

• The Cormoran Giant - Legend has it that a giant lived on this island and kidnapped the cattle of the villagers from the mainland to eat.

• A boy named Jack has planned to lure and kill the giant by digging a trap for it to fall into.

• This became a legend, "Jack the Giant Killer," recounted throughout England, and a large stone called "Giant's Heart" (a heart-shaped stone buried in the island floor) exists.
