As a huge Legend of Zelda fan, getting to sketch characters from the series is always a treat! This art exchange with my friend has been such a blast, especially since we're both diving into our favorite games for inspiration. When I'm working on a digital sketch on my tablet, I find myself really getting lost in the process of bringing these iconic figures to life. For this piece, I focused on creating stylized characters inspired by both Wind Waker and Majora's Mask. It's so much fun to take a character, like the one with the majestic wolf-like head holding a staff, and imagine them in my own unique art style. Then there's the character with the flowing long hair, holding that instantly recognizable Majora's Mask – it really brings back all the memories from the game! When sketching fan art, especially for a series with such rich character designs, I love to experiment with colors too. Imagining the green and yellow hues for the wolf-like character, or the vibrant light blue hair paired with a red hat for the other, adds so much personality even in the sketch phase. Using tools like Procreate makes it easy to quickly lay down ideas and refine details. For fellow artists looking to start their own Zelda sketches, I'd suggest picking a character or even a specific item, like Majora's Mask itself, that truly resonates with you. Think about what makes them special and how you can translate that into your own stylized version. Don't be afraid to experiment with poses or expressions!
