Why we started TinyMakers (and this account)

We are two preschool teachers, and for a long time we felt that childhood was becoming too rushed, too structured, too “outcome-driven”.

TinyMakers started from a simple wish —

to give children space to explore, get messy, slow down, and follow their own curiosity.

This LEMON8 account is where I’ll share the real side of building TinyMakers.

The doubts, the small wins, the messy floors, and the quiet moments that remind me why play matters.

No perfection here. Just real play 🤍

... Read moreStarting TinyMakers has been a rewarding journey that goes beyond just teaching; it's about creating a nurturing environment where children can develop through play. One thing I've learned as an educator is how important it is to let kids engage with their surroundings without the pressure of strict outcomes. Messy play offers sensory experiences that foster creativity, problem-solving, and emotional growth. The Tiny Makers Kidz Club is a wonderful extension of this philosophy, providing a space where kids can come together and express their natural curiosity. Parents often ask how they can support their children's play at home, and my advice is to embrace imperfection—allowing messiness and exploration is key to learning. Through this account, I openly share the small wins and the tough moments—like the chaos after a creative session or doubts about educational approaches—because real growth happens in that space. If you’re interested in play-based learning or early childhood education, TinyMakers offers valuable insights and relatable experiences to inspire your own journey.

I graduated with honours, then took the lowest paid job in the room
On paper I had everything. The degree. The honours. The A+ in the hardest class. A seat at a big famous firm. Then I started, and almost nobody there wanted to be there. People used their leave to interview somewhere else. One senior looked at me and asked, "Why did you even join?"
