... Read moreTraveling to Japan over 11 days offers an amazing blend of modern city life, historical sites, and natural beauty. Starting in Tokyo, I found the combination of TeamLab Planets’ immersive art and iconic spots like Shibuya Crossing truly exhilarating. For me, catching the sunset at Shibuya Sky was a peaceful moment amid the bustling city, reminding me why Tokyo’s skyline is so beloved. Exploring Ueno Park during sakura season felt magical, with cherry blossoms creating perfect photo opportunities. Street food breakfasts and tasting local desserts like those at Suzukien enriched the authentic experience. In Akihabara, the street karting reminded me how fun urban adventures can be! The day trip to Mount Fuji was unforgettable—visiting Oshino Hakkai’s pristine ponds and seeing Fuji from Arakurayama Sengen Park provided iconic views that live up to the hype. I recommend grabbing some local snacks at street stalls nearby for an authentic taste. Kyoto’s Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is truly a must-see, and spending time at Tenryuji Temple and Nishiki Market adds to the cultural immersion. Renting a kimono and wandering through Gion with the backdrop of Maruyama Park's cherry blossoms was one of my favorite moments; it feels like stepping back in time. Nara’s famous deer at Todaiji Temple gave a uniquely charming experience; feeding them deer crackers is simple but memorable. Transitioning from Nara to Osaka, the juxtaposition between traditional temples and Osaka’s lively Shinsekai district, with its iconic Tsutenkaku Tower, shows Japan’s variety. Food-wise, sampling ramen at Ichiran, duck rice in Gion, and sushi at Kura Sushi were highlights. The cup noodle museum and matcha workshops in Osaka offer fun insights into Japan’s food culture beyond typical meals. Finally, Universal Studios Japan is a thrilling way to spend a day, especially if you love theme parks. Don’t miss checking out Osaka Castle for history and souvenir shopping along Tenjinbashi-suji street for unique local goods. Budgeting around SGD 2450 per person for flights, accommodation, transport, food, and attractions provides a balanced trip without overspending. Using bullet trains between cities is efficient and adds to the overall travel experience. If you plan a trip similar to this, I suggest booking your Airbnb stays strategically to minimize transit time. Also, trying convenience store snacks like those from 7-11 or Mister Donut between meals can save time and add to the local flavor. Japan’s mix of nature, culture, and modern entertainment makes for an enriching 11-day journey worth every moment.
