4D4N in Yogyakarta~ Below $1000

HElu zesties 💕🍋

I just went to yogyakarta over the new year~

It was super fun annd the following is my itinerary + budget breakdown~

Overall I felt that no one really knows about this place yet. Its super well known for its nature and cultural spots! Think caves, mountains, and lots of temples.

On my flight back we barely saw any Singaporeans hahah.

----

🌸Itinerary🌸

🕐Day 1🕐

Landed at 10am in the morning

Had lunch at Kalluna Steak & Indonesian Food - it was not badd they specialise in steak and local food, its quite aesthetic though!

Went to Malioboro Street to walk around.

Wanted to visit the Water castle, however we finished lunch late and didn't make it to the castle.

Massage package at Spa central jogja - wah it was amazing, $50 for a 3hrs session, I had 1hr massage, hairspa, pedicure and a bath.

Ended when it was raining heavily soo decided to go back to hotel for supper and ordered food in.

----

🕐Day 2🕐

Booked a tour off klook to Jomblang cave and Pindul Cave

💰 $30 + $69 (paid to driver), $99 in total

But it was a full day tour and the experience was insane.

Jomblang cave - there is a 60metres decent into the cave and theres a mini muddy af hike to the spot shown in my picture, where theres a mini waterfall and an opening of the other side of the cave. They manually lower you down into the opening! The hike was quite difficult for me though because I literally dont walk on rocks - me unfit but it was still a fun experience.

Pindul cave - was a river tubing experience, they brought us to two areas, one is a cave another is like a faster moving river.

If you have an adventurouse soul, this tour is for you~ Lunch and driver was provided as well!

🍲 For dinner we had Mediterranea Restaurant by Kamil, the pizza and steak was not bad but the pasta was way too salty... idk but this place was super hyped up but i thought it was just okay.

🍸If you love bars... you know how tough it is to find it in indo if you are not in bali hahah.

But I found a speakeasy one!

TUSEN BAR, tried 3 of their cocktails it was pretty good don't get the strawberry tequila though it tasted like medicine ><, nice bartenders, super pretty decor and aesthetic.

On the pricier side but still half of sg cocktails hehe. I couldn't take any nice pictures cus it was kind of dark but check it out on google!

----

🕐Day 3🕐

Went on an ATV Tour near volcano merapi

It was super fun tooo.

Then had lunch at kampung kecil. 10/10 place for food.

It was really late after lunch soo decided to make our way to HeHa skycamp. Its a glamping spot with an insane view! However, it was raining when we arrved soo I just felt really sleepy, we made tea, explored the place a little and i got a potato snack, we got some cup noodles as well, and just chilled and relaxed.

-----

Day 4

Prambanan, Sewu Temple

They are both in the same area! and you can rent an electronic scooter to go around the park, it was pretty fun considering idk how to ride a bike soo, we went for the pmd option LOL. The temples were amazing.

Then had lunch at a restaurant nearby with insane views of the temple, Abhayagiri its a hotel restaurant.

I felt like it was quite expensive for indo but the food was alright.

Then we went back to picniq, its near heha to see some funny sculptures because we dk where to go liao hahaha but had some extra time.

Wanted to see borobudur but it was all the way on the other side of yogyakarta.

Then I had one last massage ($20 oni) and some local food! Its like their local wanton mee.

Had dessert at Tempo Gelato, it was quite an aesthetic cafe and they had lots of flavours.

-----

Day 5

Go home

... Read moreIf you're planning a trip to Yogyakarta and want to make the most of your visit, here are some extra tips I found super helpful while exploring this less touristy gem. Transportation: While Grab (bike and car) is widely available and convenient around the city, renting a scooter can offer you greater freedom and is quite affordable if you're comfortable riding one. This makes visiting temples like Borobudur and Prambanan easier, especially since some spots are scattered. Accommodation: Besides main city options, consider staying in nearby villages or less central areas to avoid early morning calls to prayer, as I personally experienced. You can find cozy guesthouses or glamping sites like HeHa Skycamp that offer unique experiences and views without breaking the bank. Local Eats: Don’t miss out on local markets and street food like the Indonesian wanton noodles I tried—it’s tasty and budget-friendly. For a treat, Tempo Gelato is a charming café with a wide range of flavors perfect for relaxing after a day of exploration. Outdoor Adventures: If you’re up for adventure, the Jomblang and Pindul caves offer thrilling experiences such as cave rappelling and river tubing that are well worth the cost and effort. Just be prepared for some physical challenge and muddy hikes! Also, the ATV tours around Mount Merapi are fantastic for a mix of excitement and stunning scenery. Nightlife: Finding good bars outside Bali can be tough, but places like TUSEN Bar in Yogyakarta provide a stylish and enjoyable night out. Their cocktails are great, and the vibe is relaxing if you want a break from daytime sightseeing. Final Thoughts: Yogyakarta balances rich cultural heritage with natural wonders and modern comforts. By planning your trip carefully, you can enjoy a diverse experience within a reasonable budget. I hope my insights help you craft your own unforgettable Yogyakarta journey!
