... Read moreAs a young stay-at-home mom, I've found that balancing breastfeeding and toddler nutrition is both challenging and rewarding. Toddlers grow so quickly, and it’s fascinating to observe how their eating habits evolve over time. I keep a record of the times my toddler ate and nursed, which helps me understand her appetite and nutritional needs better. Breastfeeding during the toddler years can provide comfort and essential nutrients, but it's also important to introduce a variety of healthy snacks to support growth and development. I’ve experimented with different toddler snack ideas, focusing on foods that are easy to prepare and appealing to little ones. These include soft fruits, veggie sticks, and whole grain crackers. Monitoring these moments—feeding and nursing times—has helped me create a flexible routine that fits our daily life. This approach can ease the transition as toddlers start exploring solid foods more independently while still cherishing breastfeeding as a bonding experience. For other parents, I recommend keeping track of feeding times and types of snacks offered, as it can provide insights into your toddler’s preferences and nutritional intake. It also gives peace of mind, knowing your child is getting the right balance of nourishment. Remember, every toddler is unique, so adapting these practices to your child’s cues is key to a happy and healthy growing journey.

moms who breastfeed are a whole new level of amazing😭 mine is tongue tied so we both got so frustrated that my milk dried up at 6 months😂 don't let anyone try and guilt or shame you for it, you're literally fueling another human which is it's own job you should feel so proud of

The image introduces the concept of distinguishing toddler independence from 'being difficult,' stating that most 'problem behavior' is healthy development in disguise. It sets the stage for understanding child development.
This image explains the science behind toddler independence, highlighting that autonomy development between ages 2-5 is a biological drive. It notes that resisting help and saying 'no' are signs of healthy development, per Erikson's theory.
This image describes behavior #1, 'I do it MYSELF!' refusing help. It explains this as building competence and self-efficacy, suggesting parents offer choices like 'Want me to help or watch?' to support confidence.
Toddler Defiance or Healthy Independence?
Before you label it “defiance” — pause. ⏱️ “I do it MYSELF.” Saying no to everything. Changing their mind three times in 30 seconds. Ignoring you completely. These behaviors feel exhausting and disrespectful. But most of the time? They’re not defiance at all. They’re independence showing up. 🌱
