My new piercings🥰
I just got these little over an hour ago. They are so cute. The main plan was to go get the double forward helix but then I decide one forward helix and then the second one another time and get the rook instead.
Let’s just my both my darn ears are ON FIRE🥲

Getting new ear piercings like the forward helix and rook can be exciting but also comes with a certain level of pain and aftercare commitment. Based on personal experiences and common feedback, the forward helix piercing is generally less painful, rated around 6.5 out of 10, making it a more manageable first step for those new to ear piercings. The rook piercing, however, is known to be more painful, sometimes described as a 12/10 pain level, due to its location on the inner cartilage of the ear. Pain intensity can vary depending on individual pain tolerance, piercing technique, and ear anatomy. It's common for ears to feel inflamed or 'on fire' after a piercing, especially when multiple areas are pierced in one session. To minimize discomfort and promote healing, it is crucial to follow proper aftercare routines such as cleaning with saline solution, avoiding touching the piercings with unwashed hands, and steering clear of sleeping on the pierced side. Healing times differ between piercing types; the forward helix often takes around 3 to 6 months to fully heal, while the rook piercing may take longer, sometimes up to 9 months. Regular check-ups with a professional piercer can ensure the piercing heals correctly and help prevent infections. For those considering multiple ear piercings, pacing the piercings over time can reduce pain and allow better healing, as this author plans—to get one forward helix now and the second at a later time before attempting the rook. This strategy helps to manage pain and reduces the risk of overwhelming the body's healing capacity. Using high-quality jewelry, preferably hypoallergenic metals like titanium or surgical steel, can reduce the risk of allergic reactions and complications. Also, exploring piercing inspiration and ideas can help plan a stylish combination of piercings that suit personal aesthetic preferences. Overall, embracing the piercing journey requires understanding the pain, proper care, and patience for healing. By following these best practices, piercings can become a beautiful and meaningful form of self-expression.
