Trying Mielle’s New Scalp Scrub

Hey yall 👋🏾 I tried the brand ✨NEW✨Miellé Rosemary Mint Clarifying Sugar Scalp Scrub. I love a good scalp scrub to clear away all of the product and dandruff in my hair. Anything that’s caked up come off and leaves me feeling extra clean. So I had to try it and here are my thoughts:

🛍Brand: This scrub is from Miellé Organics

💰Price: I ordered it online from the Miellé website for $7.99. I think it’s a reasonable price.

Actual Product🧽: So it has a good balance between serum and scrub. It’s not too rough or abrasive to where it hurts, but once in my head it’s a bit sticky. I had a bit of trouble getting a good exfoliation once it sat in my hair to the point that the hair strands near the root were becoming stuck together.

Product Design 🗒️: the bottle says that you can use the tip as a hair separator so you can get as close to your scalp as possible but you’re better off separating with your hands/fingers. Using that method will only lead to a messy bottle tip.

Yuka Score 🥕: 43/100

It doesn’t rank well unfortunately. It’s below 50😨! But for a large beauty business that got bought by Proctor and Gamble I’m not surprised that it’s ranked as low as it is.

⭐️Overall rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Would I use/buy it again?: yea I would. A scrub is an essential in my routine and I didn’t hate it at all. It did its job would being extremely abrasive and damaging my scalp. It washed out nicely with no leftover raise before I moved on to shampoo. It smells good like the rest of the mint rosemary line. The only downsides for me was that it got really sticky during the bulk of the exfoliation and I fell like I had to use a lot of it to cover my scalp.

... Read moreBeyond the initial experience with a new product like the Mielle Rosemary Mint Clarifying Sugar Scalp Scrub, I've learned that truly understanding what goes into our hair care and how to use it best makes all the difference for a healthy scalp. Many of us are searching for ways to tackle product buildup, flaky scalp, or even just to give our hair the best foundation to grow. That's exactly where a good scalp scrub comes in. When I first heard about the Mielle Rosemary Mint Clarifying Sugar Scalp Scrub, I was intrigued by the 'rosemary mint' combination. Rosemary is often praised for its ability to stimulate the scalp and promote hair growth, while mint provides that refreshing, tingling sensation that instantly makes your scalp feel cleaner. The 'sugar' aspect is also key; sugar crystals are a fantastic natural exfoliant. They gently slough away dead skin cells and product residue without being too harsh, and they dissolve easily in water, which means no gritty bits left in your hair. This type of exfoliation can truly revive and refresh your scalp, creating a healthier environment for your hair. Speaking of ingredients, it's always worth taking a closer look, especially when dealing with clarifying products. I noticed some of the ingredients listed in the OCR, like Phenoxyethanol, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Mentha Piperita Oil, and Fragrance. Phenoxyethanol is a common preservative, used to prevent bacterial growth and keep products safe for longer. Cocamidopropyl betaine is a surfactant, which helps create lather and cleanse the hair. Mentha Piperita Oil is just peppermint oil, responsible for that cooling sensation and often linked to scalp stimulation. And fragrance, of course, gives the product its appealing scent. While some people are sensitive to certain preservatives or fragrances, for many, these are standard components in hair care. It's all about what works for your scalp and sensitivities. Getting the most out of your scalp scrub is also a technique. I've found that proper application can really enhance its benefits. Instead of just globbing it on, try sectioning your hair into smaller parts. This allows you to apply the scrub directly to your scalp, ensuring even coverage. Use the pads of your fingertips (not your nails!) to gently massage the scrub in small, circular motions for a few minutes. This not only helps with exfoliation but also boosts blood circulation to the scalp. Don't rush this step! Rinse thoroughly until you feel no residue, then follow up with your regular shampoo and conditioner. For me, using a scalp scrub once every 1-2 weeks is usually enough to keep my scalp feeling happy and clean without over-exfoliating. Finally, let's talk about the Yuka score. Seeing a 'poor' rating of 43/100 for a product can be a bit alarming at first. Yuka is a great tool for quickly checking ingredients and understanding potential risks, but it's important to remember it's just one perspective. Their scoring system flags certain ingredients based on scientific studies, which is helpful. However, not everyone reacts the same way to every ingredient. What might be a concern for one person might be perfectly fine for another, especially in the concentrations typically found in cosmetics. For me, a Yuka score serves as a prompt to do my own deeper research on flagged ingredients. It helps me make an informed decision based on my personal health goals and sensitivities, rather than just dismissing a product outright. Ultimately, whether the Mielle Rosemary Mint Clarifying Sugar Scalp Scrub or any other product becomes a staple in your routine depends on its effectiveness for your hair and scalp, your comfort with its ingredients, and how it makes you feel. It's all about finding that balance for healthier hair.

Do you think it would help with scalp psoriasis? I have two spots by my temple that won't grow hair because of psoriasis.
