Philippians 3:13
1. "Forgetting what is behind"
It means letting go of the past.
• Don't dwell on your mistakes: Don't let guilt or regret hold you back.
• Don't rest on your past success: Don't get stuck thinking about "the good old days."
• The Lesson: You cannot run forward if you are constantly looking over your shoulder.
2. "Straining toward what is ahead"
The word "straining" (or "reaching forth") describes an athlete leaning their whole body forward toward the finish line.
• Focus: Keeping your eyes on your goal.
• Effort: Giving it your 100% energy.
• Hope: Believing that the future holds something better than the past.
"Don't let your past define you or slow you down. Focus all your energy on the goals and the future that God has for you."
