Does anyone else do this when writing?
I love using my laptop, don’t get me wrong. But there is something just so satisfying about using a pen and paper to write down your thoughts. I have a habit of scratching out each mistake that I make and it’s a religious part of my writing process. I can’t be the only one, right?! #writingabook #writingaesthetic #writinghabits #fyp #authorsoflemon8
Writing by hand has several benefits that go beyond simple satisfaction. Studies show that handwriting can enhance memory retention and improve creativity. When we physically write, it engages different parts of the brain compared to typing, allowing for a more natural flow of ideas. Many writers appreciate the tangible interaction with their words when using pen and paper, leading to a more fulfilling writing process. Moreover, the act of scratching out mistakes can serve as a motivational tool, making the revision process more hands-on and interactive. This approach can reduce distractions commonly found with typing on devices, centering the writer's focus on their thoughts rather than potential interruptions. Embracing the tactile experience of writing offers a wonderful escape from the digital noise of today’s world, fostering a serene environment conducive to creativity. If you haven't tried writing this way yet, it might be worth giving it a shot to see how it impacts your own writing journey.
