This scene literally had me crying
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions, wasn't it? From the very first episode of Seasun 2, you could feel the raw grief and complicated feelings hanging over everyone after Susannah's passing. While there were so many moments that tugged at my heartstrings, there's one particular emotional scene that just completely broke me and had me ugly crying. I genuinely think it's one of the most powerful moments in the entire Seasun 2. I'm talking about the scene in Episode 6, "Love Fest," where Belly finally allows herself to fully grieve Susannah's death while riding in the car with Jeremiah. Up until this point, we've seen Belly trying to be strong, to hold it all together, and to process her grief in a way that often felt suppressed. She was outwardly trying to fix things, to keep the beach house, and to mediate between the brothers, but internally, she was clearly crumbling. When Jeremiah asks her if she's okay, and she just shakes her head, muttering "I miss her," it's like a dam breaking. The way she starts sobbing, confessing how much she misses Susannah, how unfair it is, and how she just wants her back – it felt so incredibly real. Lola Tung’s performance in this scene was absolutely phenomenal; you could feel every ounce of Belly's pain, every suppressed tear finally escaping. It wasn't just sadness; it was pure, unadulterated heartbreak and helplessness. What made this scene even more poignant was Jeremiah's reaction. Instead of trying to fix it or offer platitudes, he just pulls over, gets out, and comforts her without saying a word. He holds her while she cries, letting her feel everything she needed to feel. It highlighted their unique bond and how Jeremiah, despite his own pain, was able to be exactly what Belly needed in that moment: a steady, comforting presence. It wasn't about love interests or relationship drama; it was about two people connected by shared grief, finding solace in each other. This moment resonated so deeply with me because it perfectly encapsulated the experience of grief. Sometimes, you just need to let it all out, to admit how much you hurt, and to have someone simply be there for you. It showed that even when you try to be strong for others, your own pain eventually demands to be felt. Watching Belly finally release that burden was both heartbreaking and incredibly cathartic. It felt like my own grief was being acknowledged, even though it was fictional. It's a scene I keep thinking about when I reflect on Seasun 2 because it was such a pivotal turning point for Belly. It allowed her to move forward, not by forgetting Susannah, but by acknowledging the profound impact she had and the gaping hole she left behind. This "stitch" or clip of raw emotion stands out as a masterclass in portraying adolescent grief and the complex web of relationships in the show. If you're looking for an emotional scene from TSITP Seasun 2 that will truly move you, this is definitely one to revisit. What about you? Was this the scene that got you, or did another moment in Seasun 2 hit you harder? I'd love to know!
