Outer Banks, NC 🌊☀️

Oh my goodness, the Outer Banks in North Carolina completely stole my heart! I recently got back from an incredible trip, and I just HAD to share some of my absolute favorite discoveries and things to do. If you're planning a visit to OBX, you're in for a treat! First off, if you're looking for things to do, you absolutely have to experience the boardwalks. We spent a wonderful afternoon walking along a scenic wooden boardwalk, especially the one in Duck, North Carolina. It's lined with charming waterfront buildings and shops, perfect for a leisurely stroll. The views over the water are just breathtaking, and it's such a lovely spot to grab a souvenir or just watch the boats go by. It’s definitely a highlight for anyone wanting to soak in the coastal atmosphere. And let's talk food! Being a total foodie, I was thrilled with the delicious options. We started many mornings with incredible iced coffee drinks from Shores Coffee Roasters – seriously, a must-try for your caffeine fix! Their coffee is fantastic. I also devoured some amazing avocado toast topped with pickled red onions and sesame seeds. It was such a fresh and flavorful start to the day. The atmosphere at these local spots, like where we enjoyed a savory baked item and green vegetables, just adds to the whole experience. Exploring the local eateries is definitely one of the top things to do in the Outer Banks NC! Of course, no trip to the Outer Banks is complete without seeing a lighthouse. The black and white striped Bodie Island Lighthouse was definitely a cool place to visit. Climbing to the top (if you're up for it!) offers incredible panoramic views of the coastline. Even from the ground, it's such an iconic structure and makes for fantastic photos. It’s a historical gem and a fantastic photo op. And then there are the beaches! We found so many beautiful spots. Walking along a sandy path leading towards the ocean, past those 'NO PARKING ANY TIME' signs, just felt like stepping into paradise. The beaches here are so vast and serene, perfect for relaxing, collecting shells, or just enjoying the sound of the waves. Whether you want to swim, sunbathe, or just take a long walk, OBX beaches offer it all. They are truly the heart of the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Beyond these highlights, I'd recommend exploring the different towns – each has its own vibe. Consider renting bikes to explore more of the coastal paths; it’s a wonderful way to see more of the area. For sunset, find a spot overlooking the sound for truly magical views. Don't forget to pack layers, even in spring, as the coastal breeze can be brisk! There's truly something for everyone, whether you're into history, nature, or just good food.
