My journey into drawing these gothic creatures often starts with visual research. While I draw a lot from classic horror films and folklore, platforms like Pinterest are absolute goldmines for ideas. I often search for terms like "Nosferatu art inspiration," "forsaken creature concepts," or "dark fantasy sketches" to get a visual library going. It helps me piece together elements for new designs, whether it's the structure of a jaw, the texture of tattered skin, or the expressive quality of eyes that have seen too much. For this particular piece, I wanted to create a creature with a truly unsettling presence, something that felt ancient and abandoned. I decided to use a pen for the sketch because I love the stark contrast and the permanence it offers. There's no erasing mistakes, which forces a certain confidence and precision in the lines. When drawing features like a wide, toothy mouth, I focus on each individual tooth, giving them different lengths and sharpness to enhance the grotesque effect.
